Matt is a "lock artist" when it comes to playing pool for money...only gambles when he knows he's going to win. So, I'm sure this "race" will never happen. Like I said, I was favorably impressed with his bolt as far as street driving is concerned. You made a good choice for your area of the country, where charging stations are probably more plentiful than here.

Now one can...
Oh man, I regularly make 900 mile drives in my old 85 911. Next summer I will once again go from my house to Flagstaff AZ. 911 miles to the hotel last time. On my way to Palm Springs, Ca.
I did 4,000 miles in a week this year down to Key West and back. And if my wife is not with me, I just eat some jerky and keep rolling. With a 21 gallon tank in the 911 it will go 500 miles per tank.

ROFLMAO. There's a blast from the past.
Hmm, funny, when I saw your name the following thread popped into my head: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/678150-champagne-question.html

I think the only concern for us would be a function of where we like to go. I'm not sure there are charging stations, much less quick charging stations, in many of the more off the beaten path places we like. Our Boxster has enough range to travel through some remote areas without concern, because there is always at least some little "ma and pa" gas station. If those start to become equipped with charging stations, electric might become more attractive to us. Quote:
My wife would never put up with that kind of pace. Or with being in that car for that long. Two completely different approaches to, and reasons for, the road trip. I can definitely see where an electric might fill our needs for the wife and I trips, but they just aren't there yet for the monster runs we undertake as a club. Maybe someday.

Nobody needs crazy fast...cause no one here is Parnelli Jones...all crazy fast leads to is a bigger fine on the ticket..or maybe a stretch with Bubba as your bunk mate or even the dirt nap in the bone orchard.
Fast is good enough. |

agreed, most of them big hp new Porsche buying yuppy customers can't even use the big hp they got on board..
the only reason they manage to drive em daily is from all the helper systems they stuff in them at the factory. Then on the Porsche club track day, because it's a bit wet, they keep everybody else with older lesser hp, lesser helper system cars.. because they are scared in the turns... I love trackdays when it's wet... it evens the field

Beyond that? We pay our money and make out choices. Problem is, there are people out there who think they have the right to make choices for me. Personally, I'm sticking with my old, slow, and obsolete Mustang. More power to those who "need" over 700 horsepower. A mere 315 ponies with V-8 torque works for me while others want more, others are happy with less. Some like going to cars and coffees, some like track days, some like to park outside pool halls.
