Iridium spark plugs - Change a little early or not?

2014 Hyundai Sonata 2.4L naturally aspirated engine.

95k miles on clock but plug change interval is 105k. If all else is ok, will I gain anything by changing early? $16 each retail price at Advance Auto so it is a wee bit of coin for her plus my beer money to change out (sister in law-way hawt)

It will save you from having to do it in 8 months. Sure cannot hurt. I think its always nice to catch them before they start causing missfires, and early coil failure .

As fred said, it wont hurt. The main benefit to iridium plugs is longevity.

One thing you may want to research is using a different type of plug with a slightly larger gap. I had a Ranger with the Duratec engine.. used iridium plugs rom the factory. $20 per plug. I ended up trying a copper core and gapped it a bit larger. There was a noticeable difference in pickup and no change in MPG. Might be something to look into. Only downside is having to change them every 10K miles.

I did that and it noticeably smoothed out and owner agreed. I did clean off the MAF as well so I can't quite take that to the bank as a certainty but I am now aware.

Changed them out on my Rav4 at 97000 and they still gapped the same as the new. Same thing on my 2010 Ford Fusion. But it can't hurt.

I won't charge her a dime for labor. She hangs at the shop while I do the wrenching. Let's just call it select friends and family pricing.

I went too long on my Taurus X and you could definitely tell. Amazes me the computer never registered a misfire. The car would chug like the transmission was searching for a gear. I changed plugs and BAM! problem solved. You could see one cylinder was misfiring.

What's it take to make this select group? I've got an engine drop/ trans swap coming up on the 911.

Gotcha covered! I'll brew up the beer of your choice and put you up in the heated part of the barn. Nice cozy couch and you can play PacMan on the arcade size game out there till ya get sleepy! Or if we time it right, I'll have the new 70" TV out there and you can play PacMan and watch tv till ya get sleepy. But the beer doesn't start... in full.. till the engine is out. Till then we have to act like "professionals" and just sip on them.

You might have to do coil packs, too. My X3 has a stumble here and there and at 80k, I better get of my arse and check some things. The gf took my 535i and gave me back the X3. Needed new Vanos bolts (BMW did under warranty extension, whew!) Got a new expansion tank I have to put in, replaced a sticky door handle, and ordered new headlights because they have microfractures, and the rt lens has a lot of condensation in it. Gotta love women that just "drive" cars.

As to failing coil packs, BMW and VW's are the notorious ones but I don't see all types of cars. I do know cars that have leaking valve cover gaskets and allow the coil pack to swim in oil (e.g., Subaru/Focus) will promote failure.
