source?
Because quite frankly zebra crossings are quite universal and the only real thing that gives pedestrians right of way in traffic.

Having the white line by the side of the road interrupt as "right of way" pedestrian crossing, really not something that makes any sense because it's barely visible to anybody.

Russia has even done campains in recent years to get drivers to stop for zebra crossings.

It's quite known that there are very little pedestrian crossings and peds can and will walk and cross the street just about anywhere. without any crossing

i've seen plenty of guns being pulled out in Russian dashcam vids and what not
Brandishing a firearm is probably more popular in certain areas of Moscow then in the US

technically, in the US, once a pedestrian is in the road, they have the right of way. If you're driving a car, even if the ped is crossing illegally, you've got to stop or try to NOT hit them.

Hell, I do that, but then I know how to look both ways and not get run over.

Apparently, you don't watch many of the Russian traffic videos.

I have also seen lots of videos with folks brandishing guns in the Russian videos. That seems to work surprisingly well to deter the insurance fraudsters.

same anywhere I guess, but suspect Russian insurance/police is less then interested in making work of any investigation post facts. and will go with whoever pays the bribe

unless off course dashcam

Well, I spent a bit of time there when I was working in Siberia... also if you look on google earth, you will see that the cross walk marking differ from city to city. There are zebra marking at most cross walks in the bigger cities but if you look at some of the smaller cities in Siberia, they have nothing or just a line.

I saw one video where the car being harassed pulled over, some Spetznatz looking MFers with submachine guns hopped out and gave the road rager the straight of it.

I've seen that one too. Hilarious.

10 mins of mostly armed Russian road rage. In the first 3 mins mostly handguns, but at least one hatchet and one rifle.
