"Hold Short." After a few years of flight sim as a stupid person, having much learning difficulty, the flight rules still seem abbreviated and gibberish to me as well. Why not simplify it: 1). Why are runways labeled "22"? Why aren't they "220"? As in 220 degrees. Add a distance for the final leg beacon. 2). ATC controls a runway and cross traffic with computers. One push of an authorized button confirming what the radar system believes would put up a big warning sign "Do not cross" next to every intersection to every taxiway adjoined. Break it down to simple parts. Pilot must confirm before crossing in case of computer system failure. It's not that difficult. 3). Taxi-to-gate after the runway should be a unique set of lights. Follow the yellow brick road to home port (er...or starboard). They might flash for "expected incoming but not arrived" to keep ground crew safe and aware. It makes a welcome home to the pilots.

1) Shortened for brevity. 2) Hold Short means Hold Short. If a pilot is going to misinterpret a radio call he can also mistakenly misinterpret a computer signaling him to cross. 3) Far too expensive to implement at all the towered airports around the country. Sometimes controllers do make mistakes or rush a pilot into doing something he's not ready to do. Unless you're at an airport with a lot of student traffic a controller is usually going to assume you're familiar with the field. You may be a newly minted Private Pilot but the controller doesn't know that (though he might sense it in your radio calls). He's going to assume you know what you're doing and where you're going.

1). Add the zero. Then it becomes a real compass heading. Real life.
No interpretation or shortening involved. The pilot has enough calculations. 2). Agree. But "Continue to hold short" includes two different instructions. The English language needs to be fixed. 3). Expensive my butt. A couple of lights. A few wires. Make the GUI secure and readable for all. Fix it. Keep the human pilots flying in command.. Remaining safe and informed. 4). "Private Pilot" magazine is not for laymen dreamers such as me. I used to have some old copes. (I have a "Pro Pilot" video game manual from 1997 but that probably doesn't count) (edit: I'm not trying to argue with a professional pilot to prove a point. You guys know what you are doing. I'm only trying to find and make easier possible flaws if they exist, Sorry if this was typed a different way.)

If HS had to go right and ATC tells him turn left.
"unable, need hanger on the right." then ATC could clarify "not possible for this or that" or continue down runway and exit to the right at Hotel. Just an idea, i'm not a real pilot (yet, planning to ulm or glider, once corona is gone)
