Very cool. How much dirt is up there? Did you have to do anything to reinforce things to hold the weight of wet dirt? What's the story?

It seems to be fairly common in Nordic locales. I found a bunch of pics in Norway, the Faroe Islands, etc....





You're going to have to step up your game if you want to match this roof garden.

I had to beef up the roof structure significantly. Doubled up collar ties and posted vertically 2' on center. The garden calcs out to 7,000 lb.s wet. The planting medium is 50/50 Perlite and Peet moss, 2 yards worth. Plants are all Sedum succulent. A lot of research went in to what is necessary for everything, drainage and filters, land slides, auto sprinklers, etc. PITA but we love it.
