Rita Hayworth, 1941. This was one of the most popular pinup photos among American soldiers and sailors during World War II.

LA's first telephone pay station was located at 228 South Spring Street in 1899. The young man, Roy E Jellison, was a messenger boy then and was still an employee of the phone company in 1934

One dollar in 1899 is about 33.87 bucks today. So a 10 minute conversation was going to cost over $169 in today's money.

The oldest house in France. It's found In Aveyron, it's 700 years old, it was built in the 13th century and belonged to a Jeanne.
The ground floor is a little smaller than the upstairs because in those times you only paid taxes on occupied land, so everyone built like this, ′′ cheating "!
The house tells us Jeanne was relatively rich, because she's built from stone.

Now that is a supercharger!

BTDT....on the way to Austria to ski the Alps. We did an overnight in Amsterdam. Did the red light district, drank and saw a live sex show with my then, fiancé.

The Germans and Austrians had the same models in their hotels. Pretty gross. At leastt there no bidets.

Perhaps the closest German equivalent.

H-53
The U.S. Air Force H-53 began its legacy in late 1967 during the Vietnam War as the HH-53B Super Jolly Green Giant, created as the finest combat search and rescue helicopter in the world. A total of 72 HH-53B and HH-53C helicopter variants were ordered by the USAF. During the H-53’s first three years of service between 1967 and 1970 it was credited with over 371 combat rescues.
The MH-53M PAVE LOW IV was retired in September 2008 in Iraq upon flying its last mission in combat.

Some intrepid early motorist was keen to nab the bragging rights of being the first person to drive through the Hill St Tunnels in downtown Los Angeles in September 1913.
From what we can see in this photo, the tunnel was far from being finished. I can’t imagine the suspension on that automobile was great (or even existed) so that would have been one heck of a bumpy ride.

The massive effort from America of the Liberty Ships being made in 1941 for WWII. The Allies needed ships by the hundreds to replace huge losses. In all, 2,751 Liberties were built between 1941 and 1945, making them the largest class of ships built worldwide.
