One of the crew grabbed a square of cardboard and a bar of Ivory soap. Lying on the cardboard, he reached under and rubbed the soap on the weeping fissure in the front of the tank and the leak stopped. It took a month before the replacement tank could be installed but it never leaked a drop in that time.

That's fascinating! And it supports the story.

back to the story, I would have thought that anything on the motor would have been too hot. I'd assume soap would soften and melt at temp like a wax. Muy interesante!

I tried some dawn, but it didn't stop my leak!

When the sky turns green, it is gonna hail! It is a weird experience to see the world turn bright green. And yes, it really turns green.

Kiwis lay the largest egg in relation to their body size of any species of bird in the world. It can weigh as much as 450 g: if we compare that proportion to humans, it would mean giving birth to a fully grown 4 year old kid.

Diver Comes Face To Face With Gigantic Shark
A man has come face to face with a gargantuan shark, managing to capture the incredible moment on camera.
John Moore, 55, was free-diving off the coast of Jupiter in Florida earlier this month when the huge female was swimming among a shiver of bull sharks.
The images show the female's sharp teeth up close and personal to Moore, who is a shark diver and photographer.

Yes, face to face with gigantic shark. Glenn would never be able to replicate this one with his knowledge of photography.

Yea, I would be creating a large brown cloud in the water around me if I saw a shark at all. Much less one that could swallow me whole.

Yea, right. Inflate your tire in seconds! Several hundred seconds. And where does she plug that thing in???
And she will need a paint correction specialist to remove the scratches from the excess jewellery she is rubbing on the fender.

A young Farrah Fawcett...early 1970's.
Dang she was hot.

Pittsburgh in 1970, impressive massiveness that was once J & L Steel. There was a rotten egg smell from the Eliza Furnace. I believe June 14th was a Smog Alert Day. This intimidating photo taken in 1952-3 of the Penn Lincoln Parkway (now I-376 East) has cars parked right on the highway. Why? This is where it ended for two years - at Bates Street.

The Ankerwycke Yew is an ancient yew tree near Wraysbury in Berkshire, England. The tree is at least 1,400 years old and could be as old as 2,500 years. This tree is said to have been witness to the signing of Magna Carta in 1215.

In the 1950s and 1960s, Jaguar seamlessly combined art with engineering. This era of cars was both stunning to drive and look at and this carried on through every element of the cars. The XK engine is an example of this. The revolutionary twin overhead cam engine was designed and developed by the Jaguar/SS team during the Second World War when the Jaguar factory was being used for the war effort. The aim was to produce an engine which produced higher than normal output so would be able to outperform the completion for many years to come and which ‘looked good’. It was then launched in 1948 in the first prototype XK120 at the London Motor Show and the engine delivered on all counts.
The performance from an XK engine was incredible for the time and even a 3.4 litre powered car remains swift by modern motoring standards. The engine was such a success it remained in production in various forms all the way up to 1992. It also looks stunning in the engine bay, particularly with the smooth cam covers fitted to XKs and early E-Type.
Pictured here is the rather attractive cylinder head of an XK150 engine which is currently being rebuilt in the workshop.

That photo might be a bit misleading as to the size of the shark. I'm guessing that the animal is much closer to the camera than the diver. A little Photoshop work could've been involved as well.

November 1958, CBS Television City video tape editor Ross Murry edits together the PLAYHOUSE 90 presentation of "Old Man" as director John Frankenheimer watches. This was the first time an entire production had ever been videotaped in advance and edited for air. More here
