In 1929, the USS Lexington was repurposed to provide emergency electrical power to Tacoma, Washington, during a severe drought that crippled the city’s hydroelectric power sources.
For about a month, the Lexington, using its turbo-electric propulsion system, generated electricity for the city.

Yeah, but you'd think he would've stepped back and thought..."No, I don't think so".

This is what the first American life jackets for sailors looked like, 1917.

At office 70s. Back when you could tell the women they look nice or the dress they are wearing is pretty and not have to go to HR office or sensitivity training.

Boy, does this take me back. The first couple jobs I had, getting propositioned and getting my ass fondled was de rigueur. I even recall an HR rep telling the guys they should make a point of letting us girls know we looked pretty. Making bodily contact, like rubbing our shoulders, was also encouraged.
(PS, Im also pretty sure I landed my first job because, at 18, I was good office decoration.)

Did you know? You can sail in a completely straight line from India to the USA without touching land!
