This apparently part of an old map before Yankee Stadium was built... it does show the Polo Grounds...I worked on Bridges all around NYC for almost 45 years.. some of the bridge on this map are long gone... other existing bridges obviously are not shown...

Very cool, thank you. I've never been to NYC, so this is the way I envision it.

Another before and after..

Here's another before and after... VFR Airspace maps from 1960 to 2020. Note the complexity changes at the same time the number of airports lost. In the 1960s map the blue circles are airports, the ones with anchors are sea plane airports. You can plainly see Newark Airport and JFK (which was Idlewild in 1960).

I cant zoom in clearly.. but I cant see Floyd Bennet Field.. its now a part of the National Park service Gateway National Park

I enjoy looking at old maps trying to see how perspective and renderings have change, and following modernization and growth..

Old map of Long Island.. Major roads are proposed or under construction..







Lindberg and Earhart took off from here, North on the map is Old Country Rd, west is Stewart Ave.. East is East Gate Blvd





This one is really old.. The areas called Hazlehurst, Camp Mills. and Av field 5, became Roosevelt Field and Mitchell Field..

Mrs. Shotbang with her four children she delivered herself. Husband broke his foot early this spring. About time baby was to be born they ran short of coal and bed clothing, Mrs. Shotbang had to take care of the newly-born baby and the rest of the family, cutting fence posts for fuel. The family almost froze; no mattresses on the beds this past winter, only quilts over the hard springs...

"This is the largest fossilized human turd ever found. It belonged to a sick Viking in the 9th Century AD, and has been valued at $39,000".
The large, “precious” Poop, officially known as the Lloyds Bank Coprolite,
the word “Coprolite” simply meaning fossilized dung. This 1200 year old log that is thought to be the largest recorded in human history.
At 8 inches long and 2 inches wide, specimen was discovered, in York northwest England in 1972 by construction workers during the building of a Lloyds TSB branch, in an area once ruled by Norse warriors. It takes its name from institution Lloyds Bank.
The huge poo had another red-letter moment in 1991 when dung scientist Dr. Andrew Jones appraised the piece in the name of insurance. “This is the most exciting piece of excrement I’ve ever seen,” he told the Wall Street Journal at the time. “In its own way, it’s as irreplaceable as the Crown Jewels.”
Paleoscatologists have been able to discern much from the girthy deposit, including that its producer ate mostly meat and bread was likely a Viking, lived in approximately the 9th Century AD, and had a gut full of parasites. Indeed, the manure was found to be infested with Whipworm and Maw-worm eggs, suggesting the Viking often had an upset stomach and other gastrointestinal problems.
Today, the log resides in a glass box at the Jorvik Viking Centre, York, England; where, in 2003, visitors dropped it, breaking it into three pieces. It has since been repaired.
The Centre is proud to call itself the turd’s final resting place, even hosting a virtual workshop in February called “Poo Day!” in which fans learned about the dung’s significance.

The delivery guy came down with an eye problem. He just couldn't see himself making one more delivery.
