Developed by Sony, and released in Japan on May 10, 1975, Betamax is a consumer-level analog-recording video cassette recorder. The first Betamax device introduced in the United States, with a price tag of $2,495, ($14,830.83 in 2025 dollars!) was the Sony Betamax LV-1901 Console. It included a 19" Sony Trinitron TV with an SL-6200 X-1 Betamax recorder housed in a teak-wood cabinet.

Amazing build. There is a full series of videos on his website if you haven't already been down that rabbit hole.

LOL! Yep, I also have a 0. I still own a dictionary and a thesaurus. I'd love to own one of those enormous unabridged dictionaries that you used to see in Libraries. I had a set of "World Book" encyclopedia and year books

pretty similar to the years in this stack. I think it was something like '64-75 for the year books.

I would kind of like to have them again. I find it interesting to see how knowledge has changed over time. And I suspect the grandsons would probably even leaf through them.

My parents bought us a full set of Britannica. In about 1967 we received the new year update, and I looked though it. One new word was astronaut, and it had a good description of what that meant.

Another brand new word was Hippie. The definition was "one who is hip" and that did not help me one iota. We were Montgomery Alabama at the time, and there were no hippies around.

In 1969 we moved to Hawaii again. On the road trip to California we spent a few nights as some friends that lived in San Fransisco, and they took us through Haight-Ashbury. Hippies were everywhere. We stopped and I bought a Doors poster at a poster shop. It was tossed long ago, but likely would have been valuable if in good shape now.

3 - No walkman, no boombox, no Blockbuster rentals...

But I read all of the World Books A-Z and most of those years too .

Then I discovered Playboy magazine ... had better articles

Technically, what I had was a Sony WM-7 which was, IMO, the premium model including auto-reverse and very sleek.

I never actually owned a boombox, but some buddies did.

I did have a Sansui component system. I think many of these are the same models that I had, but it came in a case with a glass front and glass top (because it also came with a turntable).

No Blockbuster rentals? How? That was how the US watched movies for 10-20 years.

I have one just like that. I needed to drill a hole in my attic at the far end of the house for a phone line. I did not own enough extension cords to get there. And it was decades before I had a battery powered drill. It worked great.

The 1976 Porsche 934 RSR Turbo is a legendary racing car developed for the Group 4 racing category, with a focus on endurance racing. Based on the **Porsche 911**, the 934 was equipped with a 3.0L turbocharged flat six engine that produced around 500 horsepower, allowing it to dominate in racing events like the 24 Hours of Le Mans and **IMSA** series…
The car's turbocharged engine was paired with a 4-speed manual transmission and an advanced suspension system, making it a formidable force on the track. The 934 featured wider fenders to accommodate larger tires and a larger rear wing for increased downforce. Its aggressive appearance and raw power were matched by its performance on the track, where it quickly gained a reputation as one of the most successful and iconic racing Porsches of the era…
The **Porsche 934 RSR Turbo** remains a significant milestone in Porsche's motorsport history, showcasing the brand's innovation and commitment to performance…
