A lot of it has to do with genetics. I eat lie a pig, I even disgust myself sometimes. And massive amounts of fries with that too please.

But I'm not fat and nor has anyone in my extended family ever been overweight.

I guess the amount of sugar, alcohol, fat etc will kill me but my annual blood tests say keep on doin' it.

I agree. I eat whenever and whatever I want every day.

Yes I’ll admit I’ve got no business with these kinds of women.
Dorothea, Army pilot. Fit. Stunning eyes. Big but not fat. Average breastesses but curves. Built like a Robert Crumb babe. I loved her and would have married her but lets just say I had to get in line. I was in the best physical shape of my life at 27 or so. That's what turned her head initially. After that she found out I was awesome. The nicest thing she ever said to me was "A hard man is good to find". She wasn't syrupy.

However hooked up with her at a Christmas party when she was back in town and told her I had another girl and she started bawling and left the room. Who the heck knows what goes on in the minds of women.

Pretty and smart trumps a whole lot of Victoria's Secret model physical attributes.

On topic: Back on keto day four.

Ha, when I was a waiter at a Mexican place two females were at one of my tables. One was STUNNING and the other, umm, (fat lump).

I didn't take the orders, so when when I brought the meals out I placed the meals in front of the two women assuming the effervescent, beautiful, slim one would be eating the salad and the ugly one would be eating the huge pile of chicken cheese and chilli. No so, and she laughed at me and said she always eats like this.

Indeed, but the genetic piece of the puzzle is not insurmountable.

Over eating is often linked to depression. The depressed sometimes over eat, trying to make themselves happy, trying to feel better. See the weight they've gained (real or imagined), get depressed again, over eat again......

Concerning "body positive" thinking. IMO it it totally wrong. We can have a good opinion of ourselves but that doesn't mean we should be happy with an unhealthy body. I don't shun my wife because she doesn't have a the trim body from when she was young but I won't say "its just fine if you are killing yourself by being 50 or 100 lbs overweight". The person inside is the one I love.

I don’t mind a lard bottom as long as it’s a shapely lard bottom..

One positive new trend to come from these larger backsides are the bathing suits have got smaller.

It seems the larger the bottom the less material that is needed to cover it..

If you want to see how fat Americans has gotten, just go to a Waterpark. Took my family to the Waterpark Capital of the World, Wisconsin Dell. Couldn't believe how FAT Americans has gotten. Not just the parents but their kids as well. I guess it all started when we started super sizing all our meals.

I think a lot of the problem is the prepared food culture we've evolved to following the "liberation" of household labor. Prepared food, even at good restaurants, has a shocking amount of useless calories etc. Its ok as a flavor enhancer if you eat it once in a while, but when it becomes a dietary staple, watch out. This is true at all economic levels.

But its also true that our culture has created "food ghettos" where it is difficult to eat healthy. We beyoch about the prices at Whole Foods etc, but there is a level below the normal supermarket as well where you can't really buy anything good.

I always knew a fair amount of women will not date a guy that is better looking than them..

I am to the point I know at 39 I’ve known and worked with women who hated me solely on the fact I am better looking than them and have a nice physique..

I never paid much attention to it until 2 of my closest friends wives who are BBW.. got together at a cookout and belittled me for taking care of my “girly physique” proceed to tell my date that I have a different girl with me at each function and went on to tell her in private to bail “don’t believe his lies” “He is a serial dater seriously”..

Of course on the way home she started asking questions about how many woman am I dating why I am I attracted to her..

The worst thing is I lost two very good life long friends due my “Batchelor lifestyle” deemed a unacceptable example for their husbands..

I like girls with with hips and round bottoms..

Unfortunately even these women are now buying into that they need to be seen with a fat guy to look feminine..

In the past I’d say 7 years with the advent of the big and beautiful movement... Men in shape watch out.. The fat movement is full on..
I can see why women would be wary of a man that seemed to be a "player" or overly conscious about their appearance. At your age, most women are looking to marry (regardless of what they tell you) and no matter how wonderful you are, they will pass on men that are not marriage material for one that is. That said, if women are critiquing your physique, you probably look great and it is likely just a little flirting...and/or they are justifying to themselves that their own husbands (who probably do not) have superior attributes elsewhere. We all tend to pick out paint chips/flaws in someone else's shiny new car.

As far as appearance and fitness, I can tell you that as I have aged, it seems that women are much more attracted by appearance as there is little competition (men that are fit and healthy). If one is going into their middle age (or later) with reasonably good teeth, hair and physique...and is reasonably successful their age, women really seem to notice/appreciate it. If you are also reasonably well educated/intelligent, even more so. I get more attention from women now than at 20...as I have improved myself for decades in many areas. Not physically, but with respect to age, I have moved up from the middle of the pack (simply through maintenance). I am not an old Shelby Cobra, but a well-maintained Falcon with a nice paint job doe ok.

While no fashion model, my weight fluctuates by about 10-12 lbs. I will hit the top of that range and diet/workout for a few months until I get back to the bottom...and gradually fall back into my old habits. It lasts for a while, but after about a year or two, I have put that 10 lbs back on and have lost some of the muscle tone (as a lot of my work is sedentary). The point is...that I get a lot of attention from women. I also seem to draw the ire of chubby men 10-20 years older and younger who complain about my (relatively average) physique and make remarks regarding how "skinny" I am...and I am far from skinny) when I am at the lower end weight-wise. While I am happily married and do not seek female (or male attention) it is pretty flattering to get the attention...and it seems pretty clear that there are an awful lot of women who would gladly hang with a fit man (as long as that is not his entire life). Even more as you get older, because your peers look worse and worse (and appear less and less healthy). Folks don't really look for a lifetime companion to push around in a wheelchair because they are morbidly obese, etc..

I think the same is true for anything that makes one stand out. For example, as a good provider. If one has a nice home, car, etc...an important job, that is helpful as well. If you are an office drone or flip burger in your 40s, that does not help (even if you have massive biceps. The problem seems to be overachieving in one area and neglecting others. Looking like a fitness coach is great, but if other parts of your life are neglected (education, employment, etc.)...one might be better off devoting more time to being well rounded and just do everything relatively well. Moderation is a good thing sometimes. A somewhat fit, healthy person that is well-read/educated and makes a great living really checks all the boxes...unless you are a total ass, a alcohol/drug addict or have some other big problem.

I am the same, I would prefer a reasonably fit woman that can largely eat and drink what she wants, keep up with me mentally and physically. While it is easier to match my activity as I age, there are fewer women that have kept themselves up as well. I think that is why so many men go after fitter, younger women, then are unhappy due to lack of things to talk about. Fortunately, I found my wife at a young age and we have grown old together and are still a perfect match.

A lot more ways to be "enabled" these days.

In my world, out in a "fit" location, the rise over the last 25 years of truly capable ATV's, SUV's and now eBikes all have contributed. People don't have to do anything anymore. You can be a couch potato while still visiting nature. No physical exertion required. Diet and eating are a part, to be sure, but not all of it.

Too many people, too much leisure time, and for 95% eating is more fun than two hours a day in a gym.

Last night I went to a friend's birthday party at a top buffet restaurant. I ate four mains, two deserts, drank most of a bottle of wine, then a coffee.

i think I need a long walk today to support my theory about genetics

After looking at pictures of the old family tree almost everyone was 'thinner' by today's standards.

The women were 'rotund-fit' but that is natural. (Have to make sure dinner is just right )
My grandfather was like a skeleton even in his youth despite becoming moderately successful.
The other grandfather had a small old man whisky belly iirc but I remember him being still being overall thin.

Nothing like today. I think they ate for different reasons.

The problem is the acceptance of unhealthy lifestyles.
If you’re fat then changing your diet and lifestyle will enable you to lose weight and any fat person that says otherwise is lying to themselves.
65g of fat ranch dressing on your salad along with bacon and cheese doesn’t really count as dieting.
Fat people know this they’re just kidding themselves and trying to blame it on genetics.
I really don’t believe that fat people are happy where they are but if they think they can convince us they are then they can suppress their negative thoughts about it.
Fat models are like rusted broke down cars at a car show. Sure a few people would approve but not
many.

Even when it's only a buck or so, I've always felt guilty throwing out vegetables onto to dirt pile in the back yard.
I was raised to eat what was on the plate or in the fridge.

Funny, I was thinking about this very subject today. I throw out almost nothing (foodwise). I tend to plan when I shop. And I guess it helps the cause when I have two border terrier dogs in da house.

If I buy some food items and go out instead I freeze them and eat them another time. Fresh veges I just cook them as roasties and they keep for a few days in the fridge.
