Don't see the 9'ers being players for Stafford. Jimmy G is a solid qb if he can stay healthy. Colts! Holy smokes I forgot about the Colts... Might have to "revise" my prediction.

Jimmy G has proven to be a good QB. But not great. He hasn't progressed as well as was expected. And he seems to be very injury prone. He would have won the SB last year if he had just completed an easy TD pass to a wide open Sanders. But he's not good with passes down field. As a Niner fan, I say it's time to make a move. Mostly because of the injury problems. He has started 25 games and missed 23.

Last night the Rams/Lions made a deal to swap QB's . Stafford to the Rams with Goff to the Lions along with two #1 and a #3 draft picks . Can Goff become a cold weather QB ? Time will tell who got the better deal .

Yep! Blows my predictions out of the water. I think Detroit got the better end of the deal if they can put people around Goff. At 26 he has a lot of time left. At 32 Stafford's days are already counting down. The Rams will be in "win now" mode.

OOF! I knew he had injury problems but didn't realize it was that bad.

Stafford is solid and a strong arm , his problems have been limited supporting cast . The Rams have the tools and want to win now .At 32 if you look at Brady/Rogers you could say Stafford has easily 4-6 years ahead of him .

To me Goff has not consistently shown his talent . Lately he seems gun shy or something just a little off . Maybe a switch in scenery gets him back on track . But the Lions better shore up their O-Line I don't see Goff taking the pounding like Stafford .

I agree that Stafford is an upgrade but he also has a tendency to throw picks. 282 TD to 144 int's. I don't know that I agree totally with the lack of talent around him. He had some good receivers and the D wasn't bad. But like the Browns, the Lions seemed to be able to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

I think it's an excellent trade..for Detroit.
Stafford wanted out...it was going to happen...could have been for a qb even up.
The draft picks are worth a lot...I'm surprised they got them.

Yeah I think the draft picks will be as big as getting a decent QB in exchange. I still think Detroit got the better end of the deal. And there's nothing saying they can't use some picks to trade up for a qb in the draft.

Rodgers grew up in NorCal as a Niner fan. Just sayin'.

Going back over the comments and thinking about teams who have won a super bowl, it struck me that a team doesn't need a great QB. The Ravens won a SB with Trent Dilfer and Joe Flacco! The Steelers played in a SB with Neil O'Donnell and Kordell Stewart. I think Eli Manning won 2 super bowls. I'm not sure that "great" matters all that much.

If Jimmy G can stay healthy and the 9er's put the right players in place, he's capable of not only getting San Fran to a Super Bowl, but winning it.

25K fans allowed at the Super Bowl
Will help with the 'home field advantage'

It didn't take long for Urban to step into it. He's taking a lot of heat for this.

I can’t see Goff improving in Detroit, unless he magically finds something that he lost with the Rams. Detroit needs a really good OL for Goff to have a chance. Otherwise I can’t see his poor decision making, happy feet, etc changing. Goff had some great games, but too many other wtf games.
