It was a well-used 1959 Opel Rekord. Probably the only one in the county at the time.

I wish I could find pictures of me from when I was younger. Anyway, my very first car was a 1967 Pontiac GTO, just like this one - same color, same black vinyl top. 400 four speed. Bought it in 1976, post gas crunch, and was the second owner. I was sixteen years old. I think I paid seven or eight hundred bucks for it.

Sticker prices for these cars were about $3K...same as mine in post#14
So..seven or eight hundred was not a 'throw-away money' price.
My 66 Chevelle prev owner had kept the original sticker in the glove box....$2800

1978 Corvette, silver anniversary edition. Took nine months from the day I ordered it to the day I picked it up at the dealer. Camped out on the highway on the day it was being delivered to the dealer and followed the truck all the way into the dealership. One of my brothers ordered one identical to it, I can’t remember if they came in on the same day or if he got his first. This one isn’t actually mine, but I have a nearly identical photograph of mine, I’m just too lazy to go find it and scan it and post it.

A 1956 Buick Special 4-door sedan with a V8 Automatic.
Picture isn't my car, but the color is right.
We called it "the tank", because it was.

Pontiac Acadian picture this in dark blue with a couple of pounds of Bondo in each front fender.
I had it for about three months before I had my first encounter with black ice.

1969 Triumph GT6+ for $300. It was a rust bucket that I worked on all summer and repainted in the garage.

Same color as mine.

1958 CJ-5 Jeep.
Really wish I'd listened to my dad when said he didn't think I should buy it.(sigh)
I only have one picture of it but I can't find it due to my totally crappy file system on my computer (just ask my wife, she'll tell you).

1987 Nissan 200SX. Not a bad little car but definitely needed more power.

I have always liked that color scheme. If I ever get a Harley that's how I'll paint it.

Not mine but looked exactly like this one - 1968 Sedan.
I remember getting the seats reupholstered (front and back) at a shop in Alhambra, $185, they looked great.

1974 Firebird. Came green from the factory. My Dad and I painted it brown.

Looked like this. Like Jim Rockford's car.

Doors weighed like 500 lbs. Was your typical-for-the-era-rolling-piece-of-GM-crap. Never ran right. Swallowed gallons of gas. This car and the $150 dollar bulletproof 1976 Toyota Corolla my girlfriend bought from my buddies Dad are what drove me to Japanese cars in college. Living in California in the 90's is what drove me to German cars.

I've owned 1 American car since college. A dirt cheap GMC diesel truck with my younger brother. It runs, sort of, after you juice it with starter fluid.

70 Challenger. But mine didn't look like that. Rusty, dents on all body panels (it lived in NYC before I got it) and mine was yellow.

383 engine, 8 mpg or less.

1972 VW - Had it in University. Once filled it up with 12 co-eds! Man I wish I still had that pic. Couple of the co-eds would be great too...

I think it was a 1985 Subaru GL with a stick. My first brand new vehicle was a 1992 Chevy S10 extended cab with the black out package. Haven't owned a Chevy since...
