I saved up for a while doing construction work to buy this, still the nicest car I’ve ever owned. Shortly after this picture it had 15x8 Corvette Rallye wheels on it.

My first car around 1988. 1973 Nova we bought off an older lady. Had a 250 6 cylinder. Took that out and added a 350 with a mild cam. Added Corvette Rally wheels in the rear. Air shocks. Sold it to buy my current 74 Porsche 911 in 1993.

1986, 1965 Impala 2dr, early-mid70s 350, 2bbl, muncie 4spd, low gears in the back. Fun but not terribly fast.

1970 Honda Z50 Minitrail.... About 1 year after this 1970 or '71 picture of me riding with my dad, I commandeered it from him. He would set me on it with it in gear then get me going. When I felt like stopping I would ride past garage door screaming for him to come out and get me stopped as I could not reach the ground.

Now I do the same with my grandkids with a 50. (apple.. fall... tree and all that)

1966 Mustang

200ci straight six with a three speed. Drove it from the east coast to IA for college and across the US once.

Still have it, need to get it down from the lift and do some maintenance on it and get it road worthy. I am in the process of getting ready to list my '78 Westfalia for sale and I do not need so many "toy" cars.

wow.... never thought i would disclose this to ANYONE...... but after all these years what the heck.....

1976 AMC Pacer

was my 1sy car!
300.00 on my 16th birthday.
  • not a single thing on the instrument panel worked.
  • no headlights
  • no speedo
  • no RPMS
  • no gas gauge
  • no windows on driver or passenger door
  • no door handles on the inside of the car, had to reach around to outside to open
  • there were holes in the floor pan that i could see the pavement, think flintstones!
  • no windshield wipers

BUT................... every time i turned it over... IT STARTED and got me to school and back.

i even went on a date with it. (i got asked, "are you taking my out in THAT?"

i said.... sure am.... get in.

Had one of these, but mine was a greenish turquoise. Played the Dukes too many times with it and broke the 904LA in it.

It said first "vehicle".... I assumed my minibike was my first motorized "vehicle"as detailed above... If not then my $50 '72 VW Super Beetle was my first car.

What was your first vehicle? (Picture if you can)

86 Audi 4000cs Quattro. Looked like this one I found on the web. I paid $1900 for it in 1991

Absolutely.

Even in 1972 California there was nothing remotely cool about a 1960, 36HP VW Beetle. Zippy.

I had a saying: "If this Beetle is a rockin', I need new shocks..."

Following this thread, I have got to say there were some stone cold first rides you folks had. I love the variety and the stories.

I bet the electric window motor in Java's Corvette had more HP than my entire car

Electric windows in a Corvette were pretty speedy, they’d take your fingers off if you weren’t careful. I remember when I got my first 911 and rolled the window down, I wondered what was wrong with the electric motor.

I had a couple of those, great little cars. My first one was a red 84, then I bought an 87 that was white just like that one. I covered a lot of miles in those things.

I had the exact same car but it was a 1984, my parents bought it for my sister and then she left it to me when she went off to University. It survived until 250,000 miles! Unstoppable Quattro. Actually my parents probably bought ours around '91 as well

My very first motorcycle was a 1976 Sportster that I bought in 1978. Kept it for about a year, then sold it and bought a 1967 instead. Kept that one for about a year, and then bought another 1976. The first one was identical to the third one, which I have now owned since 1980. I don't have any pictures of the first one, nor do i have any older pictures of the third one. I do, however, have this picture, taken about four or five years ago:

Mine was white. Got it when I was 14 in 1968. Had it two years. Whopping 40hp and they were Shetland. Girls loved it. I caught a rash of **** because of the power but my best Bud had a Mercury cyclone with 10” slicks in back. We usually took his car if girls weren’t involved.
