Two things

1: How ironic is it that he is talking to Nick about lazy minds latching onto a grain of truth and running with it, immediately prior to doing that himself.

2: You don't really need to quote people to respond to them.

Uh nope. I agree. Muggers and their motives come in all shades. And that video proves what, that the perps are not color-conscious when mugging and robbing, or they aren't Trump supporters because they appear to be black?

Let's ask these folks:
https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2021/02/capitol-insurrection-siege-trump-incitement-fbi-charges-rioters/

Yeah, the above link contains anecdotal data, not a valid survey of the nation, but at least they're first person quotes (authenticity assumed), not a random street mugging and liquor store robbery clip.

Are you for real? Let's think this through. These folks are accused of attacking the capitol building. They're gonna do some SERIOUS time. Attorney says "blame Trump". It's referred to as CYA. They count on lazy minds believing them.

Here's the thing, and don't take this the wrong way, people become a product of the news they consume. The fact that you chose MotherJones speaks volumes about why you believe the things you do. Try to use less biased sources if possible. I tend to read from all sources and form an opinion. It's a process that works for me. Keeps me more centered.

I do it for continuity.

Did he also tell the police chief he had a bad day or was that the chief's summary? The perp may well have complained he did it because the adults gave participation trophies to everyone when he was a kid. "Oh, then I understand your angst."

were you beat down in school, islam?

911pcars 03-26-2021 05:06 PM

What part of the country do you deniers live? I'm thinking the AP community there isn't large enough to generate any significant hate attack news, if any. On the left coast, esp. CA, racial slurs and attacks may be a bit higher than your location. Otherwise, you're spending too much time in isolation.

So wait... because your state is a sh.t hole where people attack Asians, that's somehow a shortcoming of mine? Or are you saying it's not really an increase nationwide in Asian hate crimes but rather an increase in places like Cali and New York? That would seem to make the problem more your thing than Trump's wouldn't it?

Well. One thing Doc Tobra is - he's very bright. You have got to hand that to him.

Sorry to disappoint my fans but I'm not going to PARF in OT any more than I already have.

My apologies to the board.

cabmandone 03-27-2021 06:27 AM

There's nothing political about the stats I posted regarding who is carrying out these attacks. You implied I'm cherry picking but failed to provide any statistics showing that I was. You don't have to go PARF, which is just a lame excuse by you, to prove that I was cherry picking.

Where this went political is the moment someone decided to blame the previous president because he called the virus by the country of origin and the region of origin. I had nothing to do with that other than to point out how boneheaded that argument truly is.

Record piles of people caged at the border (but only a small fraction of those pouring in (many infected with COVID):

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1616860076.JPG

A fresh batch of illegal migrants of all races...just imported. Many will be trafficked to subsidize the lifestyle of rich folks on the left coast. Good for cheap menial work and the sex trade. They will eventually be moved to @$400 per night hotels in CA (at taxpayer expense) for a while...and then will be released into the wild to live on the streets and compete for jobs and housing with other poor illegal and legal migrants...as well a second generation poor. Good thing that will never create resentment or fuel racism. Good thing food and housing is so plentiful and cheap in LA and San Francisco that they will not be forced to do almost anything to survive. None will ever be forced to work for below market rates, commit crimes, sell drugs, or their bodies to survive. That is why there are no existing homeless camps...life for poor folks without education or skills that don't speak English is just so wonderful out west.

The question: Why the increase in violence against Asians?
The lazy mind answer: Someone called a virus the Wuhan flu..............

Trump has unleashed the ugliness that has always been part of this country but had been shamed into the darkness. Now the hate has gone mainstream into the open and is being espoused by his followers, hate on minorities, hate on women, it's not going to end unless we all reject it.

Michigan GOP leader calls top Democrats ‘witches,’ jokes about assassination of Republicans

The head of the Michigan GOP came under fire Friday for calling three female Democratic leaders “witches” to be burned “at the stake” and for mentioning “assassination” as an option for how to oust two Republican congressmen who voted to impeach former president Donald Trump.

State GOP Chairman Ron Weiser’s rhetoric, which was captured on video this week, was rebuked by Michigan Democrats as “sexist” and “dangerous” and led members of the University of Michigan Board of Regents to call for his resignation from the governing board. Included in Weiser’s “three witches” comment was Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D), the target of a foiled kidnapping plot last year amid virulent criticism from her political opponents.
Openly reject leaders that incite violence against others, or we lose everything we once thought we stood for.

If Trump did as you say, why isn't this happening in "Trump country"? Again... an oversimplification of what's happening and why. Where do you see the most reporting on attacks on Asians kach? Sorry to make you think... so I'll answer for you. It's happening in areas that have been hit the hardest by the virus. It's areas where lockdowns and mandates have become the normal. People in general are pissed off. This has less to do with Trump than it does what has happened since the virus arrived here. "Normal" for people was blown up almost overnight. Do you think there wasn't going to be some sort of overreaction by folks or some sort of lashing out? Do you really think these folks wouldn't have associated China and the virus had Trump not called it the China virus? Did they all pay attention to Trump and not listen to any of the reporting about where the virus originated? Lazy... lazy thinking on the part of people who want to blame Trump for this.

I agree with you on openly rejecting leaders that incite violence. It's just that your words are hollow. You accepted Obama when he referred to me as the enemy and suggested his supporters punish their enemies. But that was okay... right? We had to look at "context". Who the f'k are you kidding kach. You accept the hate you agree with. Remove the plank from your own eye...

I actually don't see much in what you wrote that I haven't wrote outside of your perplexing denial, defense of Trump, and projection of hate towards me.

Get over the hate, stop hating, it's not good for you nor anyone else.

You know what Trump ran on from day one, accept responsibility for the end result.

I don't know you well enough to hate you but I do hate the ignorance you spew here. I hold no hatred in my heart and no ill will towards others. I fully accept the end result of my vote and would not change how I voted. I like lower taxes, I like border security. I believe that China should be brought to task for their trade practices and human rights violations. I believed that NAFTA needed reworked. I believe that the President should put America first in all decision making. I like that the ISIS caliphate was destroyed and that we were bringing troops back from Astan. Yep.. I have no problem accepting responsibility for my vote. None.

It seems like you should have left that in PARF. Especially because it is totally inaccurate. If you are going to bring politics to OT, at least get it right.

It is hard to believe that anyone who heard a politician use the metaphor of witches in the context of an election were stupid enough to believe it was a call for assassination as this implies. Of course, he did not call for assassination, but said that that they should vote them out. He did not incite violence at all...just another big lie to fool idiots.

Even more spectacular was the stretch that he referred to Democrats....as the speaker was pretty clear that the reference to assassination/voting them out actually referred to GOP Congress members who voted to impeach...not the Democrat "witches"...but the "witches in our own party." Just more fake news to fool fools. Here is the actual exchange/context:

"...The “witches” comment refers to three female leaders who are all up for reelection in 2022: Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Attorney General Dana Nessel and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson. All three are Democrats and became GOP targets for their opposition to Mr. Trump and his attempts to overturn his defeat in Michigan.

Whitmer, in particular, has been subjected to misogynist criticism over her handling COVID-19 restrictions. She was also allegedly targeted for a failed kidnapping plot.

Some audience members pushed back on Weiser’s response, demanding answers about how to handle “witches in our own party.”

“Other than assassination, I have no other way other than voting out, okay?” Weiser responded. “You people have to go out there and support their opponents. You have to do what you need to get out the vote in those areas. That’s how you beat people.”"

Keep it in PARF...and get it right.
