Great thread. I have a silver Cross pen that is quite old and even though it's sitting on the side table two feet away from me, I rarely use it because it doesn't write very well. It's a ball point, maybe it needs a new refill(?)
I love writing w a pen and my favorites are cheap rollerball pens that are fat. Actually, any fat pen that writes well gets a lot of use, I don't like skinny pens. I'd probably like a Mont Blanc but never had one. I also always loved stationery stores...do those still exist? ![]() Here are a couple of good pens within reach right now, one was a freebie from the DMV in MN. because of Covid, they were just giving them away after you used it. ![]()

Meisterstuck 149...one on it's way to Joe Bob...and if he doesn't like it, I'll refund what he paid for it, which is zilch, zero nada. Postage to Georgia was on me, too. I sure didn't pay today's price though...not even close. One of those "sorry I bought it" purchases. Got it from a stationer's store that was going out of biz...piece of status symbol crap that would stop writing after a paragraph or so, even though plenty of ink in it's window. Sent it to Mont Blanc service..got it back with a note saying the fault must have been mine. Fock! I'd been using fountain pens since grade school. POed, I just stuck it in a drawer...glad it's outahere. Joe Bob? Hope it gets you admiring glances from women...just don't try to write a full letter with it.
(edit) And don't toss that Cross. You might need something to really write with. https://www.penboutique.com/products/montblanc-meisterstuck-149-gold-trim-fountain-pen

This reminds me I need to get busy building a new pen for the chickens.
When I was a freshman in high school we were forced to buy a cartridge type fountain pen and use it in our english class. My penmanship has always been horrible.

The United States Postal service...when it absolutely. positively has to be there...whenever they feel like it. Your guess is as good as mine as to the time from Oregon to Georgia.
Nope, no sale...the Mustang has been a dead reliable ride over the past 11 years and 31,000 miles. Nothing but service by the book and the expected replacement items like filters, battery, tires, wiper blades. In other words, like my Fisher space pen, it has served me well. I tend to hang on to things that serve me well. ![]() Oh, if/when you get disgusted with the pen's performance, go ahead and toss it. After all, it didn't cost you anything.

I remember the old fountain prank on the 3 stooges, a dude peeks in a key hole, a stooge pulls a lever on the fountain pen, and Blammo, he gets a black eye..I would love to have that pen...

These do...
Just buy the chrome Bullett model. Think mine cost around $15 at a staples store. It's the pressurized refill, not the pen itself. https://www.spacepen.com/

I remember that...somehow, I doubt there was a Seinfeld bit on a Mont Blanc...

Thanks for the pic. I just grabbed the box, shipped it. Had the horrible thought when it was on it's way...what if I'd used the case for a different pen? Whew! Give it a try before looking for a pen repair service..maybe it'll work for you. I'd advise not sending it to Mont Blanc...their lousy service pissed me off.

I don’t recall the details but it seems like they wanted a chunk of money just to receive the pen, before providing any sort of assurance that the problem could actually be fixed. Maybe they wouldn’t give a repair price, either. Whatever it was, they did not get my business. |

I'm having the same problem with Ghurka Leather products. Been a customer for forty years and their response on repairs would have to improve to just suck.
Probably going to take them down to the local sandal maker for repair.
