That is the perfect truck in my mind for 90% of what people who don't tow a lot need.

On the Tundra forums this truck is sought by many.
Would sell pretty quick here for $2000.

I've used this kit several times for Tundra SAIS issues in the past https://hewitt-tech.com

Yes, I was lucky enough to find one, still need to fully go through them, but she is drivable now. I picked up a set of 17" Tacoma wheels for $30 on Facebook market place, currently at my powder coater since I am replacing the tires, plus I picked up a bed cover, that is at the paint shop getting color matched. Also a Facebook market place find.

Although I need one of these.
But will keep these for my surfboard and eventually a stand up paddle board

Before.
After

Thanks, I will be doing that later, as of now, I am just clearing the codes, and going.
We went ahead and replaced brake rotors, drums, pads and shoes, so I have reasonable brakes now, I also pulled out the polisher, and tested an area.

I do the entire truck when I get time, still finishing up the house stuff, slab leak, repiped, some floors, drywall, ect. But right now, because my insurance agent informed me that the company that covers is pulling out of Florida, so also have to update the breaker box, so we are working on that now

And I still have to troubleshoot the master and slave cylinder on the 944S.
Overall, I am very pleased with the Tundra, AC is cold, I can toss stuff in the bed, pretty much everything else works on it and I have been offered $8k recently, but what would I replace for that. It would be nice if it got better mileage

Sorry to hear about the rear end. Why? Lack of oil? I bought my 2003 new and it's been flawless for 200k (except for shaky brakes). Never even checked the rear end, maybe I should

It appears that it is just "time", I talked to a shop that specializes in rear differentials and h3 told me that he currently has 5 in, which is unusual, but all are just a few years apart. Kinda like the 944 engine fires that are all of the sudden "happening " as the fuel lines have aged.
1st I thought it was the transmission , but the drive shaft still moves. And the only option is a new one from Toyota for $3,500.

$3500 sucks. Something makes me think there are not too many Tundras in junkyards.

I thought about that, they are sealed units, and could be looking at the same issue, I talked to a few technicians who are familiar with the issue, all said the same thing...

There must be some front end totaled Tundras out there with low mile rear ends.
I couldn't see anything in the maintainence schedule about servicing the transmission but I had the fluid and filter changed at 100k

A couple pics of my 01 Tundra that I've had since 2003 I'll probably keep it forever.

$3500 to rebuild a differential?!?! That is insane. You can buy a brand new differential directly from Toyota for less than half of that. And it is not that hard to replace.

Used, you can get a whole axle assembly for $1200 all day long.

I think I'd look at putting a Ford 9" in it for those prices. Currie should be able to set you up with one.

You are talking out of your ass, kind sir.

I can buy the air pump all day long for under $100 used.

Post the OBD code.
