^^^ The diecast manufacturers love those special liveries so they can sell many different versions of the same casting That was a cool livery for sure.

A recent addition to the 1:43 collection. 1978 Monte Carlo Rallye. Great accuracy on this one - they even got the mirrors correct: a flag mirror on the driver's side and a bullet mirror on the co-pilot side. Unfortunately, they did not include the Gitanes cigarettes livery I'll need to source a Gitanes decal sheet and take care of that myself.

Can’t believe that this is the first time I’ve opened this thread and I should probably be grateful for the hundreds of hours added to my life that I would have spent on it.

I built a lot of models as a kid and used to blame my bad decisions on the amount of glue I inhaled in the process. I own a few cool die cast models that I will post soon when I’m at home but lately I have been reminiscing about the factory(?) models that my neighbor brought home from his job as a manager at the local Ford plant. They were beautiful small replicas of the current models being sold, Mustangs/Thunderbirds/Fairlanes/etc.

He had all daughters, with the exception of a grown son who was in the Navy and rarely around. The older girls babysat us and the youngest was my sister’s age, so I had proximity to those models which his girls had basically zero interest in. To this day, I remember how detailed and well made they were, I think that they were made of strong plastic and were not the type that you had to assemble, they were manufactured. I’d love to find some of them.

Jo-Han and AMT made a lot of those dealer promo "curbside" models. I always thought they were really cool.
