My lowly 911T shows this from NADA:

Values
Original MSRP $7,985

Low Retail $33,000

Average Retail $53,300

High Retail $87,900

Seahawk is ballpark close, still

No deal!

I like it, I can work on it, I'm keeping it!

LOL......atta boy, Skip!

I can guarantee you it won't be long before it's valued at $100K. Put it on B.A.T. and you might get there right now!

But I'd keep her, as well. The long hoods were the best of all the 911's.

I rarely drive the turbo because of all the flippers asking if she is for sale. So for the first time this year, I tooke her out for some gas and some guy in a Subaru asks the same question as I was pumping gas. Oi vey!

Also got this note on my cab a few weeks ago. The gf and I went to dinner and when we came home she was smoking in the garage. She asked me what that was.

Wow, at least you got a $50K offer. I don't think I've ever been offered (unsolicited) more than about $24K for my 930.

Ok, $25k and I'll throw in a Will Ferrell autographed basketball from "Semi-Pro".

I used to get notes on my truck now and then, even back before it was restored. One morning there was a note but it was wet from dew or rain. All I could read was,”If you would …”. I thought no, it’s not for sale and tossed the note. Turns out the were filming the movie, “Lost In Yonkers” in a town about 15 miles south of here and the note was from the picture car guy looking for period vehicles for the movie.

I'd most certainly get waaaay too much attention with that!

I already stick out like a sore appendage in this town full of Subaru's and Pickup trucks!
(We have one of each just to fit in OK ;-)

I don't need a run in with this monkey!

Got offered 100k for my '87 turbo I just acquired about 2 weeks ago by a guy in a BLACK RAM P-UP (is that the preferred vehicle of certain "entrepreneurs"?)while sitting next to him in traffic. I could tell by the amount of gold chains the guy was wearing that his money was likely "less than clean".

I've taken to keeping covers over my P-cars even when parked at home in the garage. Way too many random contractors rolling through the 'hood these days. Little curvy colorful cars catch the eye fairly easily when the garage door is up - even from 40 feet away.

That was my first thought. Maybe counterfeit? Let me have your phone number and if I'm interested we can meet inside the local Police Dept with I.D. and quick check of the serial numbers.

^^^ I think what Denis is saying is "If it's too good to be true it isn't".

Anyone who flashes cash in public is either and idiot or a scammer.

Or a drug dealer with a whole lotta cash they can't bank without raising eyebrows.

They buy a car for cash then sell it and get an electronic transfer of funds. Any questions asked "Oh it was just some old car I sold that had gone up in value."

I'd put Drug dealers in the idiot category but yea I see your point.

BTW: Modern Art is often used for laundering money.

What is it about Ram pick up drivers offering to buy air cool 911s?

About 4-5 years ago, I took the 930 out one weekday afternoon and decided to stop by my job to check on something. Within 5 min, couple of young middle eastern guys were leaning over into the inside taking photos. I can see them from the house, so I go out and ask what they were doing. The first thing out of his mouth was, "I want to buy car". Before he can fire off another sentence, I said, its not for sale and thanks them for the offer. Nope, they ain't taking that for an answer and continue to pushing. Finally the other guy demanded that,"Everyone has a price, so name yours". Finally, I said " 180,000k because it has 50,000 miles on it. Now, they're upset, raised his voice and claimed, I am trying to rip them off. The other bone head said, "We know what your car is worth, and we will do you a favor and give you 35,000 cash for it, now." " you are making good money off us so sell it". A couple of my guys walked from the job to the car after they saw what was happenning. They finally drove off.

Where the hell do these people come from?

I had a dickhead come onto my property and knock on the door to say he wanted to buy the 911. I said it's not for sale but told him where to look to buy one. He said he wanted this one! I said it wasn't for sale but happy to talk Porsches. Then the dickhead starts slagging off my car as if he's going to drive the price down. I just said sorry mate you have no idea, good bye.

To even engage with these type of folks who are aggressive in their approaches, much less coming on your property down private drives. Other than a "get the hell out of here" NOW! Did Skip feel vulnerable? Yep....

Because he was imo.

Spidey senses here ....

I agree, I did feel a bit vulnerable.

Understand that this is a small town, many people here know each other and the attitude is generally relaxed and friendly.

However, I felt in control enough and my spidey senses had kicked in too.

He started out very friendly and just wanting to know more about the car.
After he made three attempts to purchase it I was more and more direct with "It's not for sale", it sunk in, he got back in his truck and left.
I did keep a sharper eye on my rear view mirror when I left a couple hours later for a black Ram or anybody else following me.

The guy trying to buy my car was way more vulnerable from my POV:

He drove onto private property.

He flashed cash- a completely bone headed move.

One large German Shepard was keeping a close eye on him and staying off to one side.

There's only one way in or out of that area.

He had no idea who else was in the house 25 yards away (there was) or if he was under electronic surveillance.

My buddy that owns the property stayed off to one side just inside the garage as this unfolded. No way for the guy trespassing to know if either or both of us were armed.

It was a new and unique situation for me, I did learn some things and will take a less friendly approach if anything along that line happens again.
