I've been searching for belts for weeks. Finally pull the trigger, and then this thread comes up. Nice link. At about 1/2 what I paid! Arghhh....

Here's what I got today minutes before the thread got posted. Needed a burgundy narrow belt to go with my shoes. I didn't even want the gold buckle. Oh well...

Gratuitous belt/shoe combo

:
Allen Edmonds Strand?

AE makes a belt, don't remember which one, that comes with 2 buckles that you can swap out to fit the metal color that you want (brass or silver-colored).

when I was a teenager backpacking through Argentine patagonia I bought a black and a brown leather belt out of necessity

30 years later.... still have them still use them. And I love the wear and patina

All the fancy brand belts from department store..... debonded.... ripped.... bad buckle

If the price I paid makes it worth it, I can get one for you and send it. I can check on availability & price this coming week when I can go there. Thickness is 7/32.

the price is great, and the belt looks great. One of my concerns is the buckle. I want to know that the finish isn't going to wear off of the buckle.

Thank you for the super generous offer!

Superbelt. Better than leather. Buckle finishes have not worn off in a few years. I have 2, a brown one with brass buckle and black with chrome buckle. Holes never get elongated and it is sweat proof, no sweat stains. Very stiff and supportive. Highly recommended. Website is a bit like a Billly Mays pitch but I have found it all to be true. No affiliation, happy customer.

I bought this belt at Abercromdie and Fitch back in 1992 at their store down on the country club plaza in Kansas City. This is back when they were an outdoorsman store before they became a yuppie store. Solid leather belt with a solid brass buckle. I still wear it on a daily basis.

I have been wearing a costco belt for about a decade now, leather seems to be drying out so it will probably only last another 5-10 years. I am not at all fancy when it comes to fashion so good enough for me.

I am a little fancy when it comes to watches though. I have a few straps made from shell cordovan which are super comfortable and soft, look fantastic imho, and I am told very durable. Made from horse leather and unincorn tears so pretty expensive, but I imagine its a perfect belt material. I know some super fancy shoes are made from it.

Yep, that's the sort of thing that I'm looking for. With many/most belts these days, the shiny brass would have worn off, and underneath would be gray metal that was pitting and turning colors.

I've heard that cordovan is the shizzle for shoes, but I don't have any.

Bigfoot Gun Belts. Best belt I've ever had. Looks good, thin piece of metal between
2 layers of leather.

Hahahah, that video is horrible! Could definitely have done without the repeated shots of the hairy belly.

Oh, one last note; the CF version can be left on when going thru TSA (no metal)

It's surprising that they don't argue that you have to take it off anyway.

The hardware isn't anything fancy - just chromed steel. I doubt the finish would ever wear off. I actually have never "worn" the finish on a belt buckle off that I remember.

I wear the finish off of pretty much every casual belt I have ever owned. I think my sweat may be particularly caustic or salty or something. I also don't wear watches unless they are stainless or titanium because otherwise the usual timex/casio plated pot metal cases eventually start to corrode and pit. I've had buckles that looked like chrome or brushed steel/nickel, where the finish wore off and the metal underneath was unappealing.

It is a very nice looking belt though. I'm tempted.

TSA aren’t as crazy as everyone makes them out to be. If it doesn’t freak their sensors out and you aren’t an ass, theyll be good to you.

Heck, I wear my metal belt buckle through the precheck line. I just tuck my shirt front in so they can see it, and they’ve never given me any hassle about it.
