One of my neighbors, from Cali, hunts my farm exclusively. He and Jack get along great and I really like his ethos where hunting is concerned.

He took me to pick up my LC yesterday and said he did a deer stand event two days ago...he just likes to watch.

Easy, Buckaroo's.

His count: Seven deer, does and fawns, raccoons like you read about, a family of foxes, raining squirrels, and a skunk.

The only thing that kills a skunk around here is a minivan.
Years ago when we lived in the burbs, our mini dachshund cornered a rabbit in our porch. When I opened the door and yelled, everyone stopped what they were doing (German shepherd, dachshund and rabbit). The dachshund turned around to face me and had a small tuft of rabbit fur between his teeth at the end of his snoot. Looked like a little fur mustache.

I think you get more stuff than us, but I've seen a coyote, at least 4 different deer, opossum, skunk, armadillo, and raccoon (in addition to birds, snakes, squirrels and bugs).

I've thought about having a motion sensor light, but dismissed it. I actually leave the house completely dark at night. I'm pretty sure that I'll eventually add motion activated porch lights.

I used to keep a Brinkman Q beam in my car.

We all need an Uncle Jack.

Trust me, the nose light on a 60 was on a swivel and made "boo-coo" lumen.

Again, it was just one of those wake up calls where you go: "Shoes, lights, phone, gun, binos, keys...fk"

That and the fact that the entire tool and equipment shed, keys in all the equipment, was open is just so lazy and embarrassing.
Let me know what you think of this thing. I can't wait to hear about your reaction the first time you turn this thing on. It does get a bit hot on turbo, but its normally not needed. Its tuned back a couple notches normally.

Interesting timing of this thread. Looks like you got the light under control and patching the holes in your readyness?

Personally I would have approached the trek to the shed with a little more stealthiness. Had this truly been an intruder you had the jump on him. You knew he was there but he didn't know you knew he was there. Never underestimate what a trapped animal might do. For all we know an intruder might come out shooting tag you with a round and mortally wound you.

The Seals don't go in like Appocalypse now with Flight of the Valkyr blazing in the background.

Stealth could have been on yourside. Get yourself in position at a distance with cover and then turn on the sun to announce you are there. You would have cover and be ready, he would be blinded by the light.

Just this mornng I was looking at various night vision monoculars and binoculars.

Right not kind of leaning towards these.

So, night vision and a few flash-bangs is what you're saying?

That is what I did back in the day. The barn is in the middle of a field next to the road so I just hang back now and light it up.

If you get the above, please give a review.

I have the older Tiny Monster, similar to what look 171 linked to, and it is perfect for what you describe.

I have the older version of this light with 80% of the lumen output of the new one from that link. Max or turbo mode is almost needed. For a light you need, it needs not only to shoot a small spot beam, but a wide enough beam with enough hot spot to see especially if the bad guys are around. It isn't cheap, but worth every penny when needed. I have a more then 1/4 mile of hill side and its dark back there. This thing will light it up very well.

Oh, this isn't a toy. Its a tool
yikes that's a lot of money.

For a small thing like that, it works and works. Sure outperform the much bigger hand held lantern or spot lights. I turn it back a couple notches and it works out fine with plenty of light. I have the older one also, but those were about 200 bucks. 400 buckeroos is a bit steep but if a search light is needed or something that will just light up a side of a building for safety, that light is it.

With flash lights, most people do not realized that the hot spot has to be big enough to see the entire side of the house not just a small throwing beam where it will only light up say, a door or window. I need the freaking sun.

In another thread, I mentioned the Polarian PH50D. That and the Streamlite Litebox HID are my go-to hand held searchlights. For real illumination, put a Rigid or KC High Lites LED light bar on a UTV. It's like driving around your own Death Star.

Happy birthday to me.

Opened the box late on the 2nd, let it charge all day the 3rd and did test "flights" last night:

Holy schnikeys!!!

From the upstairs bedroom I can illuminate the work barns and the stable, which are around 1/4 mile or more away. By illuminate I mean you can see them clearly with small details, which is exactly what I wanted.

My wife takes the dogs on a leash walk before bedtime and I was able to follow them from my vantage point standing outside the garage to the barn and back easily.

Some observations:

- It is incredibly well made.
- The functions are easily understood in terms of brightness setting, strobe options and Turbo. Nice operator screen as well.
- It does get hot
- I love the thing.

They are not giving this thing away but for me and my needs, it is money well spent. It was my only B-Day present!

Thanks again for the recommendation!

Another perspective? It may be useful for you to remotely light up the shed.

That alone could scare the crap out of a thief. And, keep you out of harms way.

Hear something odd? Light it up from a distance. Not sure how to do this without running a 1/4 mile wire though.

I am looking.

We did the motion sensor deal but it got set off by every racoon, deer and Fox on the farm

A few weeks ago I heard a noise during the night, realized it was one of our dogs and I thought he was drinking out of the toilet. He wouldn't stop. The only light I could find was the TLR 8 Streamlight spot/laser pointer on the underside of my Glock. That thing will light up the whole house.

My wife thought I heard an intruder or that I was possibly going to shoot the dog. It was a good laugh the next morning.

BTW dog was drinking/licking the shower floor. His new source for water. The bowl is too easy and high class and therefore not used.

Light with a remote control would be the ticket for that

Had a friend who mounted a horn and a light from a train on his truck. That horn would probably set off tsunami alarms, and you could not look directly at the light, even during the daytime. Pretty sure that was not a legal setup.

That was my reaction as well when I first opened up mine. It is a great little tool and small enough to slip it in a pocket but the light output is mine blowing. I tune it back some to keep the thing from getting too hot to touch. Heat can't be good for it? I bought mine because I was tired of the coyote coming up to my deck waiting for my neighbor's dogs and my kids were little at the time. I can light up my 1/4 mile of hill side with it. Yep, well worth the money.

Its a cheap Chinese product, but I see nothing cheap about it both in quality, design and price. I am very happy with it and it has been beaten up a bit over the years. The newer version you have is brighter compare to my old one. Enjoy paul, and hope you never have to use it again.
