I watched the first season of "The Recruit" on Netflix last year, and just finished season 2.

It's a show about a guy that becomes a lawyer for the CIA (not a field agent), but then seems to constantly find himself in the field in battling bad guys. Yeah, it's not terribly believable, but it is pretty entertaining. The main guy not really being trained for the work, but always somehow managing to survive and eventually overcome all odds is the main driver for the show. He is always being helped out of no-win situations by others due to being able to connect with people.

I think there's a fair amount of dry humor in most episodes. I generally LOL at least a couple of times in each episode.

Most of the time, I watch and it seems fine, but the one detail that made me chuckle in this recent season was, the good guys get on a fishing boat in whatever marina is closest to Seoul, and need to go to Vladivostok, and I think they have "hours" not days, and they make it. I think it's 1000 miles from the water nearest Seoul to Vladivostok. I suspect your avg fishing boat is pretty slow, maybe mid 20s? So that would be a looooong trip.

I think 1923 is the best of the Yellowstone shows. Three storylines- one with Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren as maybe Costner's grandparents, one with Brandon Sklenar as Spencer Dutton, Ford's nephew in Africa escaping his WWI trauma, then coming to the United States, and one with Teona Rainwater, ancestor to the Rainwater Indian family. All good stories, although the Rainwater story is painful to watch.

I came across My Favorite Martian on Amazon (2 seasons), which also streams for 3 seasons on Peacock and elsewhere. I never really watched it other than maybe 50 years ago, so I watched the pilot, which I'd never seen. Not bad, and Tim O'Hara drives a TR-4 and is reporting on an X-15 flight. Bill Bixby and Ray Walston were good. Simon Oakland (Bullitt's captain) was in it as well. Episodes 2 & 3 weren't great, but I'll watch some more. Martin's powers are fun.

New season of The White Lotus. On episode 3. Four different stories going on. Sort of interesting. Will keep watching.

Looking forward to The Studio on Apple TV. It starts on March 26th and takes until late May to finish season 1. Ugh. I'll try hard to wait until mid May so I can binge it. Time magazine review:

https://time.com/7264756/the-studio-review-seth-rogen-apple/

The Studio is a timely, funny, and exuberantly—though not uncritically—cinephilic panorama of a business caught in the latest battle of a war between art and commerce that has raged since studios like Warner Bros. were still run by their namesakes. It’s also 2025’s best new show to date, and one of Hollywood’s sharpest self-portraits in ages—which is saying something, considering how much the entertainment industry loves to celebrate and satirize itself.

I saw Adolescence had gotten some rave reviews and was rated 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, so I watched it right away. A British portrayal of what social media can induce in a 13 year old boy. It was well done, with four one-shot hour-long episodes that effectively convey more tension.

The limited series was good, but the story was depressing. You're right about parents keeping an eye out is spot on.

I’ve been binging on CHIPs, and just like when I watched it in my youth, boy, the cars are still the most fun to watch. The variety of the California cars are even more fun to watch now.

Kaos on netflix - 1 season, parody of greek mythology in modern times, jeff goldblum (as Zeus) being typically himself, quite entertaining, different, and an excellent refresher on greek gods in general !

just finished the 5th season of fargo, and what a perfect set of television.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZdK87tfv6k

i love fargo, i mean i am Minnesotan, but like, i have never seen or felt represented in media quite like fargo does. it has such a great midwestern set of ethics. you dont not get involved with crime because of high minded ideals like being right or good ... you dont get involved with crime ... because its just a lot of work. its messy, and you just dont want that kind of mess in your life. you do the right thing not because of some creed or religion, you do the right thing cause the people next to you matter. there is more to life than a little money. its a failure of character to not be true to yourself. if you are true to yourself, if you care about the people you love, you will be alright. it might suck, but you will be alright.

its just such a practical ethical framework, i just love it.
