NBD and NBBD is the best day.

It's been too long for me.

Cool project Bill!

But why Di2 and not Sram RED E-Tap? Just curious. Have had both, and my current Tri bike and road bike (by choice) are now Sram.... And future bikes will be Sram. This after 35 years of Shimano....

Cheers

What he said. Man, there's a lot of small bike brands these days.

I often wonder what happened to guys at Soretta or any of the small custom builders from the 90s that closed up shop in the past 10-20 years?

Oh man, that Aroura looks so good.

As Greg says several are at #22, they are the techs that built my frame

Ben has restarted his business as well, main office is in Saratoga

I have been using Shimano for 25yrs, Di 2 on my Synapse - works great, our riding group has Shimano mechanical and electronic, Campy mechanical and Sram electronic, all work great. Whatever you are used to is a good way to go.

Dave Kirk, the guy at Serotta that did the Hors Cat and the curved Ottrott stays etc is a custom builder on his own and does amazing work. Mike Lopez ended up at Reynolds, then on his own as a carbon guru.

Ben must be in his mid to late 70s by now. He supplied bike to the National team around the mid to late 80s. Those guys make a beautiful Ti frame then and I am sure they are even better now.

That's a very sweet looking bike, Bill.

I am a Dura Ace guy through and through but have SRAM e tap only because there's no electronic cable anywhere. I am getting used to it but still dislike how it operates. My kid has Ultegra DI2 and I love it. Their lever just feels better in my hand and the shifting is quick. I am just bias but the few SRAM groups I have has never missed a shift. Their shifting is goofy but that's just me.

These small builders remind me of Independent fabrication or the traditional Italian shops. Small production but very beautiful bikes. Let us know how it rides.

It's interesting that the frame has a tapered head tube. Common these days but not so much on titanium frames. I suppose it is to allow for a larger diameter downtube for stiffness. But where does a tapered titanium head tube even come from? Is that an off-the-shelf item one simply purchases from a supplier or do they have some sort of mandrel to form their own? Seems like forming titanium would not be an easy task.

Also, their Aurora and Reactor Ti frames are super interesting with the carbon seat tubes!

Paragon has most of the bits you need to build a ti bike.

I have a custom ti built by a VERY small builder (no longer doing it) that has a tapered ht and very ovalized biaxial downtube. It rides very well for as stiff as it is.

Sorry to hijack Bill. I have a set of the AR bars on a Serotta, and absolutely love them-I like to run with the hoods angled in a bit, and the flare really makes the levers accessible from the drops, plus the tops are flat enough without being too wide.

The new Di2s are all wireless 12spd(11-34), The only things inside the frame are the hydraulic lines and some wire for the derailleur action in the lower seat tube and chain stay. The bar shifters have little watch batteries, The shifters also communicate w/ my Garmin's showing what gear is selected, There a whole little network between bike computer, wrist watch, phone, shifters and Varia rear radar/light/cam

I have wired Di 2 Dura ace on my old soon to be retired Ti w/ semi- compact crank and 11 speed 11-32 which has ben my fav compared to compact crank 11-28 on my Synapse

Used w/ a semi-compact crank the 11-34 gear spread is awesome

a bud picked up his #22 Drifter this summer, It's a gravel bike but setup similar to mine

In a world full of s-shaped CF seatstays, this view is shockingly and surprisingly beautiful. I love the shape of the bridge - Perfect.

(edit- I just noticed the cast seatpost head. That is really cool.)
