So do they have to clean up the wreck with all the EV batteries and such? Or just use the age old solution to pollution be via dilution?

No worries. All those EVs are environmentally friendly. There is no pollution.

So who would tell them to clean it up? Who has jurisdiction 2 miles down?

I guess if Russia can dump nuclear reactors in the Barents Sea, who cares about a few thousand lithium ion batteries?

Volkswagen said the damage to the vehicles was covered by insurance which could cost around $155m (£116m) according to Reuters.

Bentley confirmed that 189 of its cars were onboard the ship and Porsche said it had about 1,100 of its models onboard.

I hadn't see these numbers before. That a lot of P-cars.

At two miles down...it would cost a fortune to bring that back up.

What exactly was the cause of the sinking? Obviously there was a fire, but was it rough seas, leaking, a list ending with a rollover, etc.?

Probably dumping millions of gallons of water onto the decks of the ship didn't help its buoyancy.

Our local Porsche dealership had 5 cars on that ship. The salesman that sold us our Macan had 3 cars sold to customers on the ship. He said Porsche told them the sunken cars will be moved up near the top of the list for new cars.

In the end, the customer's get a newer car, and it is just a delay. They were all brand new cars, and just a new car, that Porsche can make a new version of it. It is not like they lost a rare old car.
