Exactly.

My wife calls me her 'Spirit in the Night'

Pointless question unless you ask someone's age and also disclose yours.
And, do they have any medical issues? An answer by some 30-40 year old means nothing.

However, I am close to 70, and don't really need to pee at night except I wake up like clockwork at around 2:30 am because of back pain. So then I just pee to relieve a tiny bit of bladder pressure.

^^^ I'll be 70 next year. No medical issues.
My 'once a night' habit started when I was recovering from my broken femur. Not enough exercise while healing caused me to wake in the middle of the night.
When it was fully healed and I started biking again...the habit didn't go away.

And I started the thread in response to the other one. (post #18)

Tmi?...sorry!
Up until age 60 I could drink a final beer at 9:30 and sleep all night and not get up to pee. Then something changed, old age I guess. Now I don't drink anything at all after 7:30 and I pee about 3:00 AM. I usually fall right back to sleep.

Hmmm, I'm 57 and I don't have this issue "yet". I will wake up sometimes but I don't have to pee, I look at the clock and then conk back out.

If I have tea that day, it's 3-4x a night... Coffee 2x.

If I stop drinking either for a few days it goes back down to 1x.

And I'm not even 50.

I suspect the first time you kick that chamber pot and cause a spill, you will rethink that idea.

My dad talked of his early childhood and the chamber pot had frozen solid. He said they often woke up with frost on the bed. He was in charge of getting more firewood, and getting the kitchen stove burning. It was below freezing in the house, and he got the fire going just to get the water pitcher to thaw out so he could get a sip of water and wash his hands. The outhouse was even colder, and no loitering when he needed to drop his drawers and have a seat. His parents got up after he had the fire going.

Of course I head that story when I commented that it was cold in the house at 66 degrees.

54 years old and usually wake up about a hour before my normal time to pee- so then it’s a matter of can I get back to sleep without peeing or do I pee and go back to sleep?

I seem to be extra thirsty in the evening, so that does me in- I try to drink a lot so I wake up mid night and have lots of extra hours of sleep after that.

Here’s a thing that I have found and maybe others can try or confirm. If I am sore on the evening from work, running or biking and take Advil I will sleep all the way through the night. 3 theories on this: one is there is something in Advil that is a sleep aid; two is that it blocks the signal from my bladder and third theory is that my muscle pain is what actually wakes me up and then I realize I need to pee. Thoughts?

If I want to make sure I sleep straight thru with no pee stops....I have taken one Tylenol PM.
They work...but I wake up feeling like I've been drugged.
I wouldn't take two...they are too potent to me for that.

FWIW, the kidneys generate a minimum of 200ml per hour - conscious or not.

^^^ 200ml is almost a cup. Four hours of sleep equal almost a quart.

I could never hold a quart of pee while sleeping. My bladder must be too small.

56, none but I do drink 4 cups of water between 9-12. I make sure I pee before I go to bad. Come the morning, I pee like a horse

When I was rehabbing from my hip replacement I had a couple of those bathroom buddies. I could just pee safely within the confines of my bed, never spilled a drop and someone carted away the waste of another day.

It was strangely satisfying.

47, was sometimes 6-7 times a night. Ace inhibitors (heart meds) caused that, but I'm on flow max now, so 1-2, sometimes 0. I used to drink a lot of beer, 12 or more a night, I don't drink alcohol now, but do drink a lot of water. Substitute beer for water, nothing changed, still 1-2 or none.

Ace inhibitors slows the flow, so I figure the tank didn't drain all the way.

Years and years ago, the Nurse girlfriend and I attended a Halloween costume contest party at a local night club. She was decked out in a white skirt with fishnet hose and hat, I had a lab coat, a stethoscope around my neck, a piece of gold foil on a tooth and drank beer from a plastic male urinal bottle (she claimed it was brand new from the hospital and was in a cardboard box!). We were "Dr. Feelgood and Nurse Goodbody". Won a $75 bar tab. Drank it all up!

I seem to remember first place that year was a chick with a lamp shade on her head and a cardboard table over her shoulders. That's right, she was the "one night stand".

200ml = 6.7oz
the average adult male bladder will hold 300-600ml before becoming uncomfortable
(YMMV)

If you are having a dream about peeing it may be too late.
