When you have spent a lot of time on the road going to races like I have, you quickly figure out how to and to make sure the top is tight and not near what you are drinking.
BOT, after decades of BMX, like some of the motorcycle riders can identify with, if you don't wear a kidney belt, you beat the hell out of your innards and as you get older, the effects of your youth catch up, and for me, 6 to 8 times a night.

I bought and wear a 'copper' back belt when biking on rough roads....keeps everything from the road shocks.
It really helps.

If the implication is that the kidneys generate a minimum of 200ml of urine per hour, then after 8 hours of sleep without urinating, you'd wake up and have to urinate for a minimum of 1.675 quarts. No way!

I regularly sleep for 7-9 hours without urinating and I'm pretty sure I've never peed half a gallon. Are you sure that's not supposed to be 20ml?

Oh wow, I'm in the midst of a problem. I go often 3 to 6 times almost every night. Last night it was, bedtime, 12:30, 1:45, 3:30, 4:45, 6:30,. I've tried not drinking after 7pm which has not worked. I can drink up till 11pm and sometimes sleep through the night. I'm stumped. I can't explain it. Doctor prescribed a pill but no effect at all. I'm going to try to drink a few glasses of water between 9 and 11 pm to see if that helps. I know it sounds backwards but so what. If I don't drink, I pee. If I do drink, I don't pee, usually. I guess it's better to wake up and pee rather then pee and wake up.

^^^ When do you eat your last meal of the day?
Sometimes, I notice that if I eat at 5pm and nothing after, I wake up earlier to pee.

Try eating a small snack about an hour before sleep. (with no liquids)

One of my golfing buddies has a funnel attached to a tube that goes out the bottom of his airplane. It lays between the 2 front seats for emergencies.

I am up about three times a night. I talked to my doctor about it. He said you can get an operation to fix that. He asked me about eight questions to see if I qualified for it. I answered yes to all of them and recommended an ultrasound. But he said there is no guarantee the operation will fix the problem. I still have the ultrasound requisition lying around...

My dad had a flip top container that he could pee in when he flew Lancasters in WW2. It looked like an SU carb.

I've been dealing with an enlarged prostate and nearly-over-the-limit PSA for a few years now, and thus far have been able to avoid medication or surgery, but I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to put it off.

The urge to pee can hit suddenly, and it's a painfully immediate need most of the time. My nights go up and down as far as frequency, but when I'm awake, the longer I wait to go once I feel the urge, the harder it is to get the flow started, and then it can be somewhat painful.

I just had an appointment with my urologist and he prescribed Flomax, but I haven't started taking it yet as my symptoms have been less noticeable, and as a rule don't like taking prescription meds. He has me scheduled for a scope (sounds like fun!) of my urethra to determine if either the Urolift or the TURP would be effective, and although the thought of dealing with a catheter for awhile truly sucks--it would be much better in the long run.

I've had the biopsies--so far no cancer. Hopefully it will stay as such.

^^^ I don't think 'I Care A Lot' was based on a true story.
But I do know that it is a very entertaining movie.

I've seen it three times now...each time was better than the last.
Check it out.

Kevin…was on FloMax for a while and hated it. Weird side effects (stuffy nose, no mojo, etc). Doc switched me to low dose Cialis (5mg). No side effects at all. Took a couple weeks but mostly solved the bph challenges. Able to empty the tank without too much difficulty. Still up 2 or 3 times/night, but with a quick whizz, its tolerable.

I have this set to start at the part that has to do with peeing at night. There's a lot of other tidbits in the video.

This guy goes on to pitch a keto style diet. I'm not advocating for that. But I do advocate for limiting extra sugars and mass amounts of complex carbs. Not cutting them 100% out, but greatly reducing them.

LOL!!!

Has anyone new who is younger joined PPOT in the last 10 years? It seems everyone is aging together.

Speaking of, when supplying your data here, you should mention your age or decade in life at least. It seems to correlate.

3x/night must indicate a medical issue (prostate). Or you are insomniatic and drink too much. If that's "normal" and ever happens to me, I'll just wear diapers.

I’m a 3x per night urinator. Sometimes more if I drink too late. That last piss sometimes comes so late that I end up staying awake. It’s a real pisser.

Good to know....thank you.

I still haven't started taking the Flomax yet, and probably won't.

Hey last night I pulled an all nighter!

No, of course I did not stay awake all night parting, I slept all night and even up until almost 8:00 AM and did not get up to pee!

Normal for me up until age 60 was never get up to pee. At 60, a switch flipped and I usually have to pee once, usually between 2:00 and 3:00 AM. On a rare occasion, I have had to get up twice to pee, but that is unusual.

Until I hit 60, I could finish a beer at 9:30, and go to bed at 10:30 and not get out of bed. No longer. Now I stop most all fluid intake by 8:00 PM.
