Question For the Iced Tea fans here....what is your preference?

I have always made my own. Boiled water on the stove in big pot - add tea bags - steep - remove tea bags - add sugar or sweetener - let cool - pour into container - refrigerate. Have also diluted it down a bit depending on how strong I made it on the stove.

I've also bought it already made - Arizona brand or sometimes just the store brand.

What is your preference?

Lemon, no sugar. (diabetic) Usually the drink I order when eating out. At home...made with Lipton bags.

I haven't made tea in forever. I like it sweet and don't need the sweetener. But if I was going to have it, I'd be making it the way you do. hot water, steep, sweetener, fridge.

I'm pretty sure based on memory, I make it strong, then add more water after the sweetener is dissolved.

I've had/tried pre-made 2-3 times over the years, and don't like it.

Same way as you except no sugar or sweetener.

Mother In Law makes it the best - according to family and friends.
Boiling water, Lipton tea bags (10) and 2 scoops of sugar for a gallon pitcher.

When I drink of it, I fill my glass 1/2 with water and ice, then top if off with her tea. So mine is not quite as strong - and only half the sugar.

The dilution process is a real art form --- and for me - either makes it or breaks it wrt great tasting tea!

I make sun tea at home. On the road I'll get unsweetened Pure Leaf.

I use an appliance that works kind of like a drip coffee maker. Four T bags, half a pitcher of water in the reservoir and then a full pitcher of ice cubes. Push the button and wait. Pour over a glass of ice, no sweeteners.

Being from the south, sweet tea was required. My mom would boil some water, add several Lipton bags of tea to the pan, and then mix it in a gallon pitcher of water. Then it was 5-6 scoops of sugar. When we moved to Connecticut in the early 60s, her sweet tea was famous in the neighborhood. Kids loved it.

I rarely drink it now, but if I do, it’s sweet tea at a restaurant or peach tea at home.

similar - I have a kettle to boil water. Pour water into a shatterproof decanter. Use either bags or loose tea. I do not add sweetener.

Refrigerate - I like ice tea. I also like hot tea as a break from coffee. I have several different types of tea.

Iced tea

I followed the recipe, but still felt ill afterwards.

A Long Island iced tea or Long Island ice tea is a type of cocktail typically made with vodka, tequila, light rum, triple sec, gin, and a splash of cola, which gives the drink the same amber hue as iced tea

My granny was similar. VERY sweet. I think it was 2 cups of sugar per gallon.

I took a bunch of friends from college to their place. I didn't think anything about the tea. Several of them were shocked, but then were addicted and couldn't get enough.

I never make her tea myself, or haven't in 10-15 years. When I visit my mom, she makes it while I'm there for nostalgia's sake. And even then, the last time that I was there, once we finished the first pitcher, I told her not to make more. It's so good, but since I'm not in my teens/twenties, I try to avoid too much of that sort of thing. I feel it when I overdo sweets. (and I don't have a sweet tooth, ALL of my teeth are sweet ).
