My crew in college used to sign up for the Columbia House thing for eight CDs for a dollar in our dog's name, OD Dutch or "Our Dog Dutch." Obviously, we never paid for any others, but we always yelled at the dog when the reminder notices came in the mail.

There were four of us track rats back in the day. We all swore whoever won the lottery would buy everyone a new Porsche cup car. One of us has passed, but now it’s a new GT3 RS.

I would spend the rest of my days driving various tracks and a workshop to piddle on the car.

$1.9 Billion for Monday's drawing...a record. Not gonna take that one in 262 million chance of ruining my life. Sure would be fun if a Pelican did just that though.

I figure I've already won. Let me explain:

Hey..a record powerball drawing tomorrow night. $1.9 BILLION dollars. Of course, the odds of a winning ticket are 262 million to one. I've decided to not even take that chance of ruining my life. I'm not worried about eating or having a warm place to sleep...have a paid for home, a wife I love dearly, and a couple of functioning cars. Why should I jeopardize that for some paper with a lot of numbers on it?

Hmmm, this Sunday marks my 79th trip around the sun. Time to get a bit reflective. A Jimmy Buffett lyric comes to mind: "some of it tragic, some of it magic"... Overall? A pretty good run. Especially when I consider all those buddies who aren't here now. What the hell? Guess I've already won the lottery...
