Best scene in the movie. And arguably James Stewart's best movie......

Tom Hanks' best movie?
Saw it in the theater in South Florida when it premiered with my girlfriend, her sister and sister's husband, a retired German boxing champion. Blown away doesn't describe it.....what an evening! Best two scenes..... <iframe width="640" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/qAoNcF5uGWg" title="Cast Away - Chuck Noland's Monologue" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="853" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/vXBokGJaGYw" title="Cast Away - ending scene [HD]" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Good cast in the remake, too.

Agree...good cast for the '84 Hopkins/Gibson version. Saw it when it came out in the theater.
Many argue the '35 with Laughton/Gable version to be the best, but my fav. has always been the '62 version. Every one of these films took more than their fair share of artistic license with the actual facts of the story....which is actual quite fascinating..... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutiny_on_the_Bounty |
Watching now.......
Lot a great scenes. This one included.......that's the legendary Jack Hawkins with Charlton...... <iframe width="1060" height="380" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/5r12diz8a_Q" title="Ben Hur Saves Quintus Arrius | Ben-Hur 1959" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Watched this movie (again) in it's entirety last night. I've seen it countless times before but for me it's one of those movies you never get tired of watching, for the most part.
I've also grown to appreciate the nuance and story lines not to mention the screenplay, filming, and editing that went into this production. It was very well done, IMHO! Sure...we've seen oodles of "natural disaster" movies.....which is another reason I had to make mention of this one standing out a bit. This fantastic segment is a perfect example of how it keeps you on the edge of your seat..... <iframe width="911" height="387" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/iOWeOnT_EzE" title="The Day After Tomorrow movie Instant ice freezing scene mp4" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Anthony Perkins and Audrey Hepburn in "Green Mansions"......love this scene......

A SciFi classic from 1971!
The special effects were designed by Douglas Trumbull. The film is notable for its use of split screen in certain scenes. He and director Robert Wise would re-unite 10 years later in a big way for Star Trek: the Motion Picture. <iframe width="718" height="404" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/DEyk4umEfmw" title="The Andromeda Strain (1971) - It's a Crystal Scene (8/10) | Movieclips" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
^ Great movie- written by Michael Crichton. I read the book because I liked the movie.

In the Name of the Father is a 1993 biographical crime drama film co-written and directed by Jim Sheridan. It is based on the true story of the Guildford Four, four people falsely convicted of the 1974 Guildford pub bombings that killed four off-duty British soldiers and a civilian.

One of Kevin Kline's best movies, IMO. Even Hayden Christensen shows he's got some acting chops.
