Yep, and some real humor thrown in on occasion.

One of my biggest hates of the Sky F1 announcers is they all talk at once! Often three of them are yammering at once and I have no idea what anyone is saying, and then they seem to break into laughter at some inside joke.

Some are knowledgeable, but have such thick accents it is really hard to understand them. I wish they just spoke English as well as most of the drivers. Alonzo would be a great announcer and way easier to understand than some of the crew they use now, and he is not a native English speaker! Same with most of the current drivers.

The 500 payout formula has always baffled me.

Found some explanation, https://racereviewonline.net/2023/05/30/why-the-indy-500-payouts-vary-and-how-the-red-flag-was-a-3-million-decision-a-deep-look-here/ .

Leaders Circle standings from 2022 are a factor also.

Paying Graham Rahal $460,000 to start 34th, or as an alternate CAR (not driver) is beyond me. And then as a DNF he got more than Power (total).

I am sure glad no one got hurt with that flying wheel/tire.

My wife had an incident in our911 race car back in '09... right rear took off under load at about 80-90 mph. Brake rotor disintegrated, brake caliper broke of the trailing arm. When the wheel/tire took off (it was a 16 inch diameter 13 inch wide slick), it knocked off the oil suction line, and whatever oil was in the tank hit the headers and caused a flash fire.

No one was hurt.

The wheel/tire was found a long way away. The forces were incredible.

I am sure folks involved here will work hard to make sure that they learn everything they can about this situation at Indy.

Racer magazine web site has some great articles on this year's race with some video segments by Marshall Pruett. I enjoy his work. I met him when he was just getting started.

Great dude, great fan of racing and a great journalist. I think he still lives in this area.

I expect that he might have some insight about that open visor. I noticed it on replay right away and was surprised that the commentators did not mention it, as far as I can recall.

Anyway, I am really glad that no person got hurt... except maybe financially.

From reading the article, he must be in somebody's car that was in the Leader's Circle last year?? The money stays with the car, not the driver.

BTW: I can't tell you how annoying that name is, in a trying-to-hard type of way

It really is, isn't it. His parents should be speed-slapped.

Mike Joy said Indy drivers flip up the visor to let everyone know they are ok. Sort of like NASCAR guys dropping the window net.

Thanks Mike for the video - very well laid out argument.

"Sting Ray Robb" - from what I heard, dad was a Corvette fan. That said, he's an idiot to name his son. What if the kid wanted to be a lawyer or a doctor?
"Hi, I'm Sting Ray Rob and I'm going to be doing your heart surgery today...."

It’s being reported by ESPN that the lady whose car was hit by the flying tire is getting a new car. I saw that coming.

The Penske Entertainment group is supplying/buying the new car .

That's a no-brainer. They need that problem to go away right now with zero negative-waves. There's got to be 25 ways to get a brand new car at cost within the Penske group of companies, and another 25 ways with all the sponsors that Penske and Indy associate with and the sooner this little episode is forgotten by the ticket buying public the better.

This is a bullet dodged.

"Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?"

I guess it could have been worse. What if his dad loved to eat at Hooters?

Kyle Kirkwood admits opening his visor while upside down wasn't his brightest moment 😋 .
