An interesting story about Peter, who lived at the Philadelphia Mint during the 1930s. Very cool, until his wing got caught in a coining press, ending his life.

These pics are from the deck of my house in Vermont..... the fishing in our part of the lake was superior, and this guy agreed....
I never did figure out where he(she) went to roost for the night.. And this magnificent bird was a visitor for a few years.....It was eerie, because poof all of a sudden this large raptor is settling on a branch.. It would glide in and land on that branch almost in silence.. ![]() Yes Ill have the perch ![]() This raptor was eviscerating a pigeon, in the parking lot of my gym.. in the middle of Nassau county, NY It gave zero effs about mankind's encroachment, I walked right by and took these shots.. ![]() ![]()

I get to see hawks fairly often, and lots and lots of vultures.
I see these fairly often too. Crested Cara Cara aka Mexican Eagle. I took this photo in Brazil This is a photo that someone else took near me (in the same county). ![]() There's a field next to us that's about 15 acres that is used for hay production. One morning after the field was mowed, I saw one eating what I assume was a snake that was killed by the mower. I've been told by folks in the area that they've seen a group of them attack and kill a calf while the cow was giving birth.

The last few years I've followed the Sutton eagle cam in NE Oklahoma. They have a hatch every year. Rh3 camera has been down for the last week or so but is back up and running. She is sitting on 3 eggs this year.

Any guesses as to how long the Big Bear pair will continue to sit on those eggs?

For those in the DC area there is a eagle's nest just south of Old Towne Alexandria on the GW Parkway. It is very close to the road and easy to spot, Belle Haven Country Club golf course adjacent.
I used to see the eagles 4 or 5 times per week there.

Here is a website for Peregrines in Pa. I have been following for about 8 years.
She has 3 eggs in the scrape already, probably 1 or 2 more in the next 3/4 days. https://www.dep.pa.gov/Citizens/EnvironmentalEducation/PAFalcon/Pages/default.aspx

All 3 eggs hatched. The youngest will have to be tough to be able to survive.
https://www.suttoncenter.org/live-bald-eagle-nest-camera/ ![]() All 3 chicks were doing fine until last night. The older 2 chicks attacked and killed their younger sibling. Proceeded to feast on the little one.

Not a great pic...the best I could get last fall of an eagle eating on road-kill raccoon that I carried off the road the day before.

Time for renewal
Married for life, powered by instinct and just being majestic. Shadow & Jackie have two eggs in the nest.

We have friends that live in our hood right on the intracoastal. Their neighbor 2 doors down has an eagle’s nest in a big pine tree in the front yard. I remarked how cool that would be and he said, no, the neighbor is continually having to pick up carcasses, bones and various other detritus out of his front yard that gets dumped out of the nest! Not unusual to see eagles around here. Very cool creatures.

Our area (Eastern shore of Md) is lousy with them. You'll see them pull fish out of water from time to time but otherwise they are playing chess with vultures for dead critters.

Had one standing back to me on my way to my woods. From a distance I thought it was just a buzzard. Thankfully I was paying close attention as I got closer because, unlike a buzzard, this thing didn't want to move off the road and give up its dinner. The buzzards always fly off, this thing just looked at me like it wanted to kick my ass.
