Where the homeless people live in MI
Nights are too cold yet for a tent or a cardboard box. Why not live somewhere with electricity?

It's unfortunate that she was moved on. It seems like she had a safe, secure place. I suspect finding another safe, secure place to "live" will be difficult.

That's creative to the point of being amazing. Just the exploration to find that is something unless she was tipped off.
It's been awhile so I can't say for sure, but the locals storage places have a few that stay inside most of the day and leave at closing. There is no daylight so they block the door open just enough. |

Too bad she didn’t sneak across the border. She’d have a hotel room, cell phone a stipend and Gretchen would call to see how she likes her accommodations.

Everytime I roll past a FF now, I'll be wondering if someone is living in there.
![]() My HS buddy, dropped out in his JR year and moved to FL. He was a very talented wood craftsman with no money to get started. I visited him in Hollywood, FL a few times after he had been their a few years. His shop was a storage rental unit and he used one bay for work and the adjoining bay for his home. He built a complete apartment in the one bay..including an upstairs bedroom and office. It was amazing. He built and installed custom cabinetry....and he had a very good business going until he passed away 5 years ago.

A light at the top with a wall switch. They use an adapter to plug in an extension cord. No plumbing but public toilets on site per code. Mostly the "resident" used fans. I've seen guys get away with some work inside even with limited power tools. It depends on the manger.

^^^ I don't know how he did it (might not have been up to code), but he had complete plumbing and electrical.
When we were in Jr High, our hobby was model rocketry. I would buy a kit and glue it up and have it ready in an hour. His models would always take a few days....painting, sanding, painting etc. they had to be perfect when done.

I've known of people living in shops in the light industrial areas since the early 70's. Some pretty colorful if not very productive. Those were some good times as I had such a space that I shared. Total rent was $90/mo utilities paid, not some triple net lease.
We had a couch and 55 gal drum fireplace. Try that now. Never met the landlord. I could have stayed overnight a few times, don't remember. I probably didn't remember those nights then either.

The FF lady most likely had some heat being on top of the main shopping area. Free Wi-Fi would be there. She would have had to wait for reg hours to use the facilities. Not bad.
![]() I didn't start this thread to downplay the plight of the homeless. I just thought it was funny to see where this young lady had found a place.

I didn't think it downplayed. Shows ingenuity.
