Hard to go wrong at 220 bucks for a 50 " TV . There are probably a handful of manufacturers that private label for various " brands " . If you are in the market for a TV I say go for it . Costco probably offers a dirt cheap extended warranty you might want to look into that .

HiSense is one of the Chinese brands that is supposed to be surprisingly good. Many, many reviews put them up there with quality of picture and features with a lot of the big boys.

We bought one a year or two ago. We now have a very thin line that runs across the screen from side to side about 2" up from the bottom edge. So that's what I'd consider a failure of a fairly new TV. Fortunately, it's easy to mentally "tune out", but I'm sure both the missus and myself would prefer that it wasn't there.

Curious did your TV come with a 3 year warranty as stated above ? Might be worth looking into .

Just checked, we bought it ~2.5 years ago, and the warranty on this TV was 2 years.

I bought one from Costco last year. Was hoping to get sling TV and Bluetooth, etc. It was supposedly a smart TV but wasn’t able to use it or what I intended to. So, looking for another TV.

I had a 55" Highsense for 10 years and it was still working fine when I gave it away. The browser and smart features were just obsolete. Replaced it with a new 55" Highsense 1 1/2 years ago. You need to choose the operating system that works for you. I went with Google. My neighbor got Roku. It makes a difference.

My wife recently asked me to look into getting her a small TV for the sewing room. Wanted me to wait till Black Friday or something like that for sale prices. Yeah, right.
Anyway, I looked around and decided I wanted to invest in one that I'd be happy watching, which meant it had to be at least a 1080p picture. There aren't any small ('The size of your monitor') TV's that are 1080p, so I upped the size to 32".
Found a HiSense on sale at best buy which got me all I wanted and she's happy too as it came in under her '$200' budget, even with the stand I had to order from Amazon since the feet it came with wouldn't work with her placement on a tall chest of drawers.
It's a ROKU TV too so not a problem getting the shows she wants to watch either.
The picture isn't bad either.

If your tv has a few apps, but not the ones you want....buy a firestick or roku stick for $20 and plug it in to the hdmi input on the tv.
Then any of the channels/streaming services are available.

My wife multitasks better than anyone I know when it comes to sewing, watching TV, working on her computer and doing needle point.
If anything it'll cost me more as she seems to sew more stuff while listening to TV.
Fabric isn't cheap.

I was worried about whether or not she would balk at my getting a larger TV, but I think the coming in under budget got me thru that one unscathed.

I thought about a monitor too, thinking when it's done being a TV it'd be nice to use as a monitor for my computer. I asked my son about going that route (he's my default go-to-guy for electronic stuff now) and he convinced me to KISS [keep it stupid simple] by going the ROKU TV route. I'm glad I followed his advice as it's working out very nicely with only one cord going to it for the power. The speakers leave a little to be desired but that's just my ears.

Manufacturers stop updating the built-in apps on older or discontinued models of "smart" TVs or Blu-Ray players pretty quick - to the point where they're pretty much unusable after a few years, which, for a decent quality device, will be a fraction of its service life.

Also, those built-in apps are rarely as good as the user experience on a decent streaming stick of any type - particularly one that's not as dumb as a rock, like the TVs tend to be.

Available HDMI input ports is far more useful, imo, than any bundled apps on the TV itself.

I have a 80" and 55" HiSense I bought from Sam's. One is Android, the other is a Google. The picture is very nice and is comparable to my Vizio and Samsung. They were bought within a year of each other, but the settings layouts are quite different. I am guessing that is because of Android vs. Google. However, as a tv, they work great. Nice color and suprisingly good sound. The only thing I have a problem with is the 80" losing connectivity. I have a mesh repeater 8 feet from it and every couple months, it loses the network. It won't reconnect, so I have to do a factory reset and start from scratch. PITA, but otherwise a good tv.
