If you don't stay in Austin, at least get downtown to see the F1 activities.

Parking is so bad it's insane. We did park and ride one year and it wasn't much better. Not sure if there's anything you can do but bring patience.

We went to Canada several years ago and it was awesome! I understand next year will be a few weeks earlier not sure what that will do for the atmosphere since the F1 weekend seems to be the traditional first summer weekend in Montreal and everyone is out and about and super friendly.

I have worked Miami, Vegas and Baku. Baku was great and seems pretty affordable. Great track, great people, great wine. That might be one to consider.

Volunteering gets you on the track close to the action. My Vegas post was turn 0.0 which was effectively at the number 4 grid spot across from the pits. If you get involved with your local SCCA region and work corners you have a good chance of getting to work a race. Besides F1, I have worked IMSA and IndyCar at Laguna Seca. All fun but the commitment is for all practice and race days from beginning to end.

Have given myself a birthday present with Champion Club tickets to Spa and Hungary. Really looking forward to that trip. If anyone has any suggestions on things to do in Brussels or tricks at the tracks, I am all ears.

From a BBC article

"Is it conceivable that Mercedes could ditch George Russell in favour of Max Verstappen for 2026? Irrespective of Max's pedigree as a multiple world champion, bringing him in to replace George would be incredibly harsh on a driver who has performed pretty much flawlessly so far this year. -

Yes, it's conceivable. We have summed up the situation with Mercedes in an earlier piece.
It was already well known that Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff was likely to explore his options with Verstappen this summer - as he did last year. And it was Russell who broke this situation out into the open before the Austrian Grand Prix, by saying it was "only normal that conversations with the likes of Verstappen are ongoing".
Russell has driven an exceptional season so far. But Verstappen is regarded as the best driver in the world. Wolff is talking to him and his management to work out whether a deal is do-able and desired by both parties.

If the answer to that is yes, Wolff then has to decide who would be Verstappen's team-mate. It would likely be Kimi Antonelli, in the interests of creating the best balanced team.
Relations between Verstappen and Russell are tense, and it's hard to imagine them working as team-mates.

Yes, that would be harsh on Russell - just as it was harsh on Carlos Sainz when Ferrari decided they preferred to sign Lewis Hamilton for 2025. But it would also be understandable from Mercedes' point of view.
As for Red Bull, team principal Christian Horner has emphasised that Verstappen has a contract until 2028.
"The rest," as Horner put it, "is all noise that's not coming from him."
Noise, perhaps. But it happens to be true."

Seems VER fits better with the thugs at RB than with Merc. Toto may be just as ruthless as Horner, but his beside manner is better. How does VER fit into the Merc culture.

It is a shame that RUS would not get a top tier ride since I don't seem him being a Horner/Helmut type and McLaren is set, unless Lando does something beyond stupid. Ferrari seems not able to out of their own way. Someone said RUS with Newey might be interesting, but RUS would need to agree to a multi year effort.

VER might be the best technical driver, but he is fundamentally a bully.

Just my 2 cents

I got a good idea what an earlier Canadian GP will be like. I was stationed at Fort Drum NY, only 20 miles from the Canadian border. We had snow pretty much every year in very early May. Not much, but it was cold and like what a lot of people experience in late March/early April in the rest of the country.

I've been to Canada GP twice. Never get seats on start/finish straight, the sight line is garbage. The only other drawback is having to take subway under the river to the island. Post race is super busy. Other than that, Montreal is awesome.

Went to Vegas last year, had a blast. My brother-in-law and I were supposed to do Canada this year but we waited to late and the prices were insane.
We were looking at a cruise this year that stopped in Monaco for the GP next year, but with two sons in University the money just couldn’t be worked out.

The goal was to do a circuit every year but the costs keep going up making it difficult for a lifelong fan.

Strong suggestion for Baku. Great town, really nice folks, good food and wine. Lufthansa, Qatar and Turkish all fly in daily. I had a great time working it last year

When we first thought about F1, I was thinking back to Indy cars I had seen years ago. Tickets were affordable and getting to and from the tracks were relatively easy. The Indy 500 did take a little more work with parking out of town and taking a shuttle.

Even Lemans was easy by taking a train from France to Lemans, a shuttle to the track and walking a short distance to the T4 grandstand. And tickets were very affordable.

Then looking online for tickets to the F1 race, holy moly. Add iairfare, hotels, etc., and it is an expensive weekend.

Like Rtrorkt said and I have also worked, the best way to watch a race is to be a part of the show. There is a significant time commitment, but the memories are priceless.

Thank you Mother Nature for creating one hell of a race!

Congrats to Hulkenberg on a well deserved finish too!

So happy for Nico. I even had a brief thought of Lando and Oscar vying for the lead, only to crash out and allow Hulkenberg to sweep into a victory.

Oscar asking the pit to have Lando move over is my favorite part of the race!

Probably had Mark Webber in one ear telling him that.

The Sky guys got the stats: 60 psi on the brakes and dropped 100mph. I'd say it bordered on dirty.

Hulk makes the podium and his trophy is presented by..........Lego.

I guess in 20 years it will be a topic of interest but for now,
