F1 brakes have been continually amazing for a long long time. Every couple of years another brake video comes out with some new information about how these things are made. The calipers are works of art, but the rotors are just NASA++ spec. at every step of the process. How they're able to manufacture enough for everyone is beyond my comprehension.

Perez in at Cadillac. 2nd seat down to Bottas vs Schumacher.
Yuki out (of RB) at the end of the season. And the drama around Max-RB-Mercedes-Horner. What a silly season, and it's not even summer break yet!

Any rumors of RedBulls demise are greatly exaggerated.

And Lewis is out of Q1 on both the sprint and main race qualifying. The Haas is looking lot better. Finally

Hamilton not doing that great but I am most surprised by Aston Martin being far off the pace . The $$$ being poured into that team not much performance gains .

Great pass at the start that made the difference . That and tire management . Race overall was a yawner .

I think Lewis will be inclined to at least remember Sunday..
Good strategy call for him. McLarens half a second per lap faster than 3rd!

Kind of a dull race and very poor video coverage, but Good for Charles and Lewis for their positions. I hope this means the upgrades will be more competitive.
Time for Aston to clean house they couldn't perform if they had too

While Lewis did pick up spots his mighty Ferrari couldn't get past Albon in the Williams . Aston Martin what the heck is going on ? Haas what happened both cars started well . Hadjar had a poor performance was there an issue with the car ? Yuki I suggest you polish up that resume .

Aston gambled conditions would be wet longer. They ran higher downforce, as did Max and a few others. Once the track dried, they were at a disadvantage.

Spectacular circuit. I hope to go one day. The view just up the hill from Eau Rouge looking back looked awesome. You could see the elevations this year on tv more than ever. I only wish they started it sooner than they had. It is F1.

Something else that stood out for me: there were no cautions during the race, everyone finished and only one car was lapped. That means after 200 miles of racing, the slowest competitor was only about 6 miles back. That is tight.

However the local infrastructure is not up to the task. Entry and exit is via small country roads. I’m familiar with VIR and it’s somewhat the same. The local authorities/ police don’t care about logistics. On race day we left the Spa hotel and 745 and missed the start of F3 race. Long line in the one two lane to get in. Getting out was just a s@&t show. I got on our bus, supposed to be the first leaving, at just before 6pm and finally got back to the hotel just after 10. I booked through a reputable company with experience. Didn’t matter. Police held all the buses for 2 hours apparently indifferent to the situation. When we did leave they did not allow the buses to take the shortest route to Spa, about 15km, but sent us on a 60km route that was nothing but 1.5 lane country roads stacked with traffic. We sat still for the majority of the 2+hour bus ride. While I loved the racing the whole logistics issues would say stay away. Which is unfortunate. Great traditions at that track. Been racing there for 100 years and the roads around it reflect that. Until there is some cooperation between the local police and organizers I’m afraid the overall experience is lacking m

I watched the race from a feed where I could select no commentary, just track sound and radio calls - the F1 feed. I am no Hamilton fan, but his first half race driving was some of the best I've seen from him in years. He set up those other drivers just masterfully. The reason why I mentioned the no commentary feed is because these details get lost when you're trying to tune out the screaming throat from Britain; but if you can listen to how the driver is driving the car, it's all the difference in the world.
And yes, Stroll snr., just wasting cubic dollars and talent. |

Wow that’s sad to hear about the logistics but I think this is the norm, it’s become elitist, if you can’t fly out with your own chopper it’s a gong show.

An add to my previous post. On the positive side, was great racing. I agree with Langheck, HAM drove great particularly after he went to slicks. Timing had him more than 10 sec faster than the others for about 5 laps.
TV does not show how steep the hill is coming down from le Source and certainly does not show the steepness from Eau Rouge to Radillon. Incredibly steep. When they are after it, the compression at Eau Rouge drives tire smoke. We did get a tour of the track on the back of one of those flat beds. The elevation changes are not evident on TV. And I had no idea i was getting into mountain climbing. From the parking above le Source to Eau Rouge must be 100meters vertical. I could be exaggerating but as an old guy the climb was slow. As an aside rode with a driver to the Aachen train station who had driving PIastris mom. On to Budapest. Let’s hope logistics are better.

Have worked Laguna Seca and there means of exit via the hill or south entrance are all controlled by the police allowing for somewhat organized exit. I know for Rennsport with all the folks there it was a pretty easy exit. Even VIR which is in the middle of nowhere has a better organized plan than Spa.
