We are still shut down here in Charleston, SC. Lots of bridges and overpasses are frozen over. There’s nobody out there.

We still have snow on the ground here in Opelika. I had to drive to my sister-in-law's house yesterday afternoon, and there were a couple of sketchy spots where the city had put down some sand, but that was about it.
It's back to work for me today. It will be interesting to see what the test track looks like. We will definitely be testing out the AWD today!!! [emoji38] Sent from my SM-S916U using Tapatalk |
The snow quit and it's 20F and sunny.
Doesn't take much sun to start melting the snow on the asphalt driveway.:) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1737654613.jpg |
37 degrees today, the snow is gone. None in the 10 day forecast.
|
Tried to go to work this morning, but the roads were ice and black ice. Bridges were frozen over. I called it quits after I got gas. Went back to the house and took a nap!
Roads looked great this afternoon. I’m headed from Charleston to Bluffton tomorrow, so hopefully everything‘s clear. |
You know what sucks.... we had a .3 dusting and they covered the freakin' main roads with salt/brine.... and the frozen crap was gone by 10am and now no rain for 10 days? The road are still white in places and will be ... idiots :(.
If we don't use up our salt, we won't be able to ask for more... |
Years ago, they would salt/sand the corners and curves only after plowing here. Now, they salt/sand all parts of the roads. If it's a 2 mile straight road...it all gets covered until it's brown.
If a person can't keep their car on the road that is straight as an arrow...they belong in the ditch.:) They figure we must live up to our name...the 'rust belt' |
Here it is Friday morning and still we have bridges and roads closed.
|
My grandsons want to play pond hockey. I'm going to be removing snow from the ice for awhile.

We still have quite a bit of snow around here, but it will probably be gone after the weekend. I went back to work yesterday. I-85 was clear all the way to West Point. All bridges, including the Chattahootchee River bridge, were clear. Here is some footage of the snowstorm, from Mobile to Gulf Shores. There is no audio, only visual. The USS Alabama looks so majestic in the snow.
Edit: there is some audio near the end of the video. https://youtu.be/gLIohsNzOTo?si=ZQraEyjP5mxq-T8T Sent from my SM-S916U using Tapatalk |
I just finished uncovering everything, damage looks minimal.

Woke up this morning and it was 28 degrees! It's a heat wave!
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1737909527.jpg Got about 2 inches of sun before it clouded up again. By Wednesday we are supposed to have overnight lows above freezing for the first time all month. |
We got another 5 inches in western Nova Scotia this afternoon. I'll get it cleared out in the morning. We actually had a couple of lightening flashes around 3:30, about a half hour before it stopped. Temperature was just a couple of degrees below freezing.
Fun times. Best Les |
