We have a nice toasty 12 degree morning. Wind chill of zero. That's kinda nippy.

Hopefully, the power is back for Jack. At least he's got a genny.

Our 29º morning felt plenty cold. We've warmed up to 32º now on our way to 47º if the forecast is to be believed. I'll take 47º compared to below freezing.

Stay warm, folks!

Well, that worked out pretty good. Woke up at 5:30 and the generator was still going. Filled it up and went back to bed. We got a couple more inches of snow and the power is still out. Also the PPOT forum is a bit messed up but thats ok.

Here in Opelika, when I woke up this morning, the temperature outside was 43 degrees/feels like 33. Now it is 40 degrees/feels like 31. Temps are dropping, no real threat of snow here or even flurries, but they are calling for a dusting of sorts in Atlanta later on this week. Mom lives in Chelsea, which is near Birmingham, and they are forecasted to have some flurries. Thank goodness she doesn't have to go anywhere. Y'all be safe out there and stay warm.

3° here this morning in Lincoln, Nebraska. But that’s not unusual for a morning in January. Sunny and we only got a couple of inches of snow over the weekend. We could use more as we have been in a drought for the last couple of years.

Yup. Looks like huge one.

The sun is out here this afternoon and it looks nice when inside. :)

The wind chill is 7F right now and the north wind is strong.

I can’t stop laughing!

Is that what the kid's are calling it these days?

911boost 01-06-2025 01:05 PM

^We didn't get any snow Steve, with all the people that moved here over the past ten years I am sure they are sore they didn't get fuched!

Crowbob 01-06-2025 02:18 PM

I don’t know how you people can live like that down there.

Its getting close. My buddy about 1/2 mile from me just got his power back.

JackDidley 01-06-2025 09:09 PM

This sort of sucks. Street 2 blocks from me got power 5 hours ago and mine is still out. Thank goodness for the generator. Tomorrow I will have to go to get more gasoline. I think I went through 9 gallons in 22 hours.

Good luck Jack! Tho' very rare here, once a decade or so we have a nasty ice storm with hundreds of thousands losing power .... my longest outage was mebbe 12 hours ... same with my parents' house ... over the past few decades. My friends a few miles away were "last to be restored" 20 years ago ... 11 daze with no power ... they were campers so no problem. Later they discovered they had gas logs in their fireplace ... that worked .... doh :D!

I have one of those that I keep for just that reason. A few years back, we were without electric for 4 days in the middle of the winter. The gas logs kept the house in the 70's the whole time. (propane fireplace)

It's a nice stand-by heat source.

If the predictions are accurate ( coin toss ) we will get 2 - 3 inches of snow this coming Friday/Saturday here in north Georgia. If it's snow it's no big deal . But if it's sleet/ice ugh it will be ugly . Power outages and every goober smacking into something with their pickup trucks .

onewhippedpuppy 01-07-2025 05:32 AM

5-8 inches forecast for N. Texas later this week, that’s like the apocalypse for DFW. Really glad I won’t be around for that…

GH85Carrera 01-07-2025 06:18 AM

#$%(%%#@! And profanity added, we are forecast for Thursday to get 1 to 3 inches of the white crap falling onn out of the sky. Rats, we will go stock up on bananas, and hopefully just weather the crap inside the house. I will be shoveling my 25 acre parking lot. My mother told me a million times not to exaggerate, but it is a large area. It is big enough to park 3 SUVs and I can still get in or out of my garage. I have had 8 Porsches parked on my driveway. So lots of shoveling.
