Don't know what our totals were but i'd guess around 8" or so. I'm officially old as i hate this crap. Hunted in the snow yesterday am but it turned to a sleety/rain mix for a bit and soaked everything. Shoulda been epic but some boys near us are clearly baiting their pond so we ended up with a lousy 3 black ducks for our efforts. They must've fired 100 shells easy.
So with the main benefit of snow being evaporated by a few bags of corn or milo i'm officially done with winter.

What a miserable day for me.
They say we got 13" here. I don't believe it, maybe we got 8". It is one of the worst kinds of snowfall for clearing the driveway. It's black asphalt, so it's typically a little warmer than the air if the sun has been shining. So we had a sunny day, then the snow came down and it got cold, down to 15 degrees. I use a 2320 Kubota with a 6 foot blade on the back and clear 500 feet of driveway and some parking areas. So I scrape the snow off and it leaves wet pavement underneath, which freezes instantly as soon as it is exposed to the air. It's like trying to clear snow off of an ice rink. yeah, I need tire chains. The differential lock is engaged by stomping on it with my left heel, and the shuttle is on the right foot. After an hour of that, my legs are killing me. I do the sidewalks with a POS MTD built "Troy Built" that I got at Lowes. I ran over a stick or something and sheared a shear pin with half the job left to do. I hate fixing broken equipment in the snow when it's 15 degrees out.

Mounted some weights, the plow, and let er' rip. Working on stuff in cold weather really does suck though- with one caveat. If you cut your hands when they are frostbitten, you don't really feel it. You see the blood dripping in the snow, but everything feels A-OK! Lot's of sharp sheet metal on this old girl, and I found every jagged edge!.

Still no power. I just wish the generator had a bigger gas tank. 5 hours will not let me sleep all night. Just checked email and an hour ago the power company sent me an email saying my power was restored. NOT>

A few years back, we had an outage for 3 days. A couple days after it was restored, I saw my next door neighbor, a 70 year old lady out in her yard. I went over to talk to her and she said hers was still out. Come to find out, her transformer and wire to her home was overgrown with wild grape vines and brush and they never spotted her breaker being open. I called the power company and they were out within an hour. They should have looked a little better when they were out the first time.

It's easy to assume that someone else has called, but in a situation like that, I'd make damn sure they knew that I didn't have power and neither did any of my neighbors in a 3 block area. Do you want me to call them. "Hey, Bastids! Jack ain't got power, and this sheiße is gettin' old. Send someone to Jack's place pronto! Ya hear me chief?!?"

I LOLed at the last part. I did call after I got the email saying it was fixed. They replied saying it will be fixed by Friday. When I call I just get a computer, not an actual person. I will keep on feeding the 40 year old generator gasoline and an occasional splash of oil. This gen was purchased by my buddies dad in the 80s. It still kicks butt. ![]()

^^^ Good Deal.
![]() I don't like the electric bill (mine doubled this past month), but I sure don't like it when it's not working.

Same here. The generator was costing about $1/hour to run. It was worth $60 to be warm and entertained for the last 4 days.

Get off my lawn!

We have had about 4 inches of that white crap fall out of the sky. I have not been outside today.

This has inspired me to get a portable generator for the house. One that’s just big enough to run essential items. We have hot water natural gas-fired radiator heat so it would not take much to run the water pump for the furnace. Add in the refrigerator, some lights and a TV and a 5000 kW generator should get the job done. That would also be enough to run a couple of window AC units. Should the power go off in the summer.
