Looking for a new laptop
My Microsoft laptop will not run Windows 11. It also has a battery that is swelling, and pushing the display forward a bit. It is an old computer.
I don't need a real powerhouse, mostly I do email and visit Pelican. It has to be a tablet, touch screen display and with a detachable keyboard. I do on occasion have to use it for running the flight software we use while flying, but it does not need a lot of computing power. That is when it is mounted in a holder as a tablet with no keyboard. I wold like to keep is around the 1K price, but a little more for the right one is OK.

It doesn't sound like you need a laptop computer , sounds like a tablet will cover your needs . I to thought I needed a new laptop . As a surprise Christmas gift my wife gave me an Android based tablet . I haven't turned on my old laptop since .
I internet surf/email/message with no issues . I wireless print to our laser printer . I am retired so no need for Microsoft office products . I think mine is a 10 " screen but that doesn't seem to be an issue . It's an option to consider .

As said, a tablet w/ a pair-able keyboard for when you want to actually use one sounds almost better than another laptop. Add desktop for home, so you have a place to do extra storage, format conversion, etc.

Apple ipad with attachable keyboard for the win. It just works, more general aviation weather and Nav apps available, high functionality.

Most of the time I use the keyboard.
And only a Window based computer can run the software and run the camera system.

I've had some good experience with Dell XPS, they have touch screen versions for a little bit more. I even had one repaired under warranty and it was smooth.

Look at Dell Outlet - some great deals there.
I have had two different Dell Precision Mobile Workstations since 2008; both still running strong. Zero problems. We use Dell hardware at work and get a lot of years out of them. |
