Spent some time with the TR today and used a test light to check a few things. I found that one fuse was not getting power to it, not sure yet what it powers but will consult the shop manual. I have not checked the ignition switch or the starter yet. I spent most of the time sweeping the hut. My brother-in-law and his brother have been working on closing in the one end that was open. They are going to install a large garage door and have been adding the framing for such a door and they have already added a regular entry door. There was a lot of sawdust and silt on the floor so I found a push broom and went at it. I also reversed a small shop-vac and used it like a leaf blower to blow the finer stuff away from my work area. I will go back tomorrow, took a day off from work, and will continue to chase the electrical issue. I took some pictures of the outside of the building. The end with the existing messed up wooden garage door is the end where the TR is parked. It got dark enough for a security light on a building across the alley to come on and I could see that it shines into the hut a little so that makes me feel a bit better. Oh and I sprayed some PB Blaster into the trunk lock and got it working so I left some tools in the trunk and locked her up.

This is the original top cover/boot. I brought it home and washed it in a bathtub with warm water and Dawn dish soap. It has some markings, numbers and letters that I need to check out. The color is "Chestnut", wife says it is brown, I reiterated to her, no no, not brown, Chestnut!!!
![]() Edit: I just realized that the red numbers and letters are the manufacture date which is 27 Oct 75. Makes sense because the manufacture date for the car is Dec 1975. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my SM-S916U using Tapatalk

Good stuff!
I find it interesting, the way the brick facade is built with square stepped corners rather than just rounded. Its a similar thing that's commonly used, and presumably just for aesthetics. Very nice that you've got the original boot. Have fun on the project and keep us updated. The car sitting inside the hut by itself makes for great photos, very atmospheric.

Wow that space is HUGE!!! Just curious what was the reason for the setback of the new garage door/entry door wall ? The car looks really good in there 👏

Great shots! Thanks for keeping us updated. By the way, I have learned never to argue colors with a female.

Interestingly enough, not everyone necessarily sees the same, so everyone's perception of color is likely to be different. I have read before that on average, there's a difference in perception between men and women for blue and green. We once had a green Pontiac that my wife swore was blue.

Today put the boot outside to air out in the sun. The thing was stored in the trunk for all those years and has a slight old gasoline smell but not too bad. I brought it inside just before dark and wiped it down again with a cleaning wipe. I then wiped it several times with a leather conditioner. It is actually made of a heavy weight vinyl but the conditioner helps to soften and preserve it.

Curse you,Hobiemarty!
I saw an ad for a '73 TR6 on kijiji the other night and called the guy. The grandchild and took a drive to the other side of the province this morning to have a look. Long and short of it, I bought a project. It needs the usual, floors, rockers and seals, bushings etc. The engine sounded so sweet. Twin SUs. From what I got from the owner, he bought it from his brother 5 years ago. His brother bought it a number of years before that, drove it one summer and parked it, meaning to "get at the floors". Since then it has been started from time to time and move from shed to heated garage. Wish me luck.

Maybe it's my age, but I crawled around and over that car for an hour and never once thought of taking my phone out of my pocket. When I got home and my wife wanted to know what I had bought, I went to the website but the seller had already taken down the ad. I will try to arrange shipping this week. In the meantime, the car is dark blue with tan seats and carpet. The dashboard is almost perfect. There were no dents I could see. I think the rockers were treated to a fiberglass "repair ". . No smoke on start up with a light choke. No rod knock or valve clatter.. I think I'm going to have to get a better welder, as mine is ok for doing heavy stuff on the farm, but tends to burn through thin sheet metal even on the lower(of two) setting.
There was a bag in the trunk with a couple of catalogs (Moss Motors? 10 yo?), a Haynes manual and what looked like a weathered and notated factory manual.

It came with ZS-175s. A suggestion - Try to get used - good - sheet metal for anything that isn’t a floor. Some of the repop new stuff is an awful fit. |

The color combination sounds really nice, can't wait to see pics of it. It sounds like you have a nice, somewhat easier project than what I have going on as mine is not running at the moment. It seems that rusting floor pans was a common problem with these cars as I have seen lots of videos about them. I don't know how to weld, I do have access to a welder though and I guess I could learn.
