Are you still a PCA member?
After seeing the replies on the "Porsche is facing troubles ..." thread it really makes me rethink how I feel about the current brand.
I don't have the money to buy a new one, or even a slightly used one so there is that. Even if I did I don't need a car like that. Barely keep my license with my 996TT. I jokingly refereed to my PCA membership fees as a donation the other day and now I'm thinking it's not far from the truth. I don't track anymore or do the socials. Are you still a PCA member?

No I’m not. I went to a couple of breakfasts with the local group not long ago and thought I’d rejoin but never did. It’s kind of boring now since I don’t autocross anymore.

They stopped caring about 356 decades before I inherited mine...
Dad was on the 356 Registry and I re-joined for a few years

I am but I still do regular PCA DE's. I'd probably still keep my membership up without DE's since I've loved Porsches since I was a little kid.
Many years ago during the Motor Meister hoopla, I mentioned here that I was going to cancel my membership in protest. Someone here mentioned that you have a lot more influence as a member than an outsider so that year I mailed in my membership check with a letter stating that I was renewing my membership under protest since the PCA still let MM advertise in Panaroma. Not sure how much influence my letter had but I do know their ads soon stopped showing up n Panroma.

Yes, I will be a 50 year member of PCA in a few months. We have a great group of members here locally. We just hosted the national Porsche Parade, and that was my 22nd Parade, and we will drive to Lake Placid for the 2026 Parade.
I have been active in helping run the club since 1979. I have served at every position, and I have been the treasurer for the region for 20 years. I was the newsletter editor for 12 years. When I first moved to Oklahoma City, I only knew my co-workers and my grandparents. My grandparents were wonderful, but not much fun to hang with as a 20 something year old man. All my coworkers were married and had their lives away from work. The War Bonnet Region was full of neat guys and welcomed me with open arms. I got really involved with out Tech Sessions. Our region invented Tech sessions. I got to hang out and drink beer with Hans Mezger. We drank every St. Pauli Girl beer the bar had, and had to change to Heinlein. I learned that even as a 20 something beer drinker, don't try to keep up with German. Tony Lapine was a lot of fun, and he designed our Tech logo for us. I have made real friends from all over the country now, and it is all because of PCA. Our region has a monthly breakfast, and a lunch. We have drives and we need a new autocross site. PCA is what YOU make of it. Get active, help out in the administration and don't just complain, make suggestions, and put on the event you think the club should do. You will find lots of great friends. The PCA motto is it the people, not the cars. That is very true.

Yes! We have a great local club with lots of active members. We have about 120 cars that come for monthly cars & coffee, about 50+ come for our monthly dinners, 25+ come for monthly tours, 15 + non-Porsche = 30 come for auto-x. We had 4 major events during 2025 (i.e., Luau - hosted at my house, Summer Splash hosted at a member's house, 70th anniversary hosted at Castle Air Force Base, and Oktoberfest hosted at a member's house. I would have to say that 75% of my friends are from the car club.

We have similar backgrounds. I've been Treasurer since 2007, and I did our newsletter for a couple of years (I hated that part). Board meetings have been at my house for the last 3 years, but we moved it this month as our board has outgrown my space.

PCA has been major part of my life for 2/3rds of my lifetime. I can't image how much different it would be without PCA. It is a family of friends, good friends.
One thing I stress to new club officers, is to make a real effort to welcome the new people to the club. It is always tough to see a group of guys chatting like long time buddies, and feel left out. I make that effort to welcome everyone new.

Nope.
I joined for the track, ended up running and revamping the track program and then the local track closed, then started racing all over the place. I’m not an ‘ice cream social’ sorta guy. The last straw was when I took my 76 930 to parade and the place was full of guys like this that sold their corvettes and bought GT4s… they thumbed their nose and my near perfect early turbo. One of them made a comment to my young son in the elevator that maybe one day, his dad, me, would be able to afford a Porsche… Not my crowd. We left early.

^^^^ In all my years in PCA, even when I had a 914, I never heard anything like that. Now my 85 gets a lot of attention from the guys with new Porsches.
I was the poor photographer, in a club with lots of oil business guys with lots more money than I did. During one of the oil booms, we had a llot of guys show up with gold chains in brand new Turbos. They all vanished during an oil bust. The core true enthusiasts were always there. Back in late 70s and early 80s the leadership all had wifes that were big on wine and cheese parties. Gagh! That era soon ended and we had lots of other events. Our dealership sponsors a "Motors in the morning" on the second Saturday of the month. Free coffee and donuts and a good turnout of lots of cars from several 911 GT3RS to the very oldest Porsche sold new in North America, a 1952 pre A Cabriolet. Even some 924s and lots of air cooled cars.

Yep, 20 year member as of this year. I have been highly active in the AX, Time Trial, and as an instructor with HPDE. I also enjoy some of the evening 3 hr tours up in the canyons and have made lifelong friends. I don't attend many of the social events and have never been to Parade but it is coming here next year. We shall see.
