US female ski jumper was DQ'd for skis being 1cm too long . That's. 394 . How the heck does that happen ? And who's to blame ? She didn't make the skis . Did quality inspection at the manufacturer miss the incorrect length ? I would think at this level every team/coach has a jig to check the skis . A go/no go test . Very strange .

Who length measurements very from manufacturer to manufacturer.
It is not overall length.

Help me understand , if skis are deemed 1cm too long isn't that the overall length ? I get it that manufacturers can vary the length but someone somewhere has to know that skis for Olympic jumping have to be no longer than xxx . Am I wrong ?

And a men's ski jumper was DQ'd because his boots were 4mm out of spec . He admitted they were new boots and he failed to measure them . His mistake . But he was aware that officials would check the boots .

The favored pairs skaters from Japan just put down an outstanding routine , scoring 231 points ! Their performance was just beautiful. Well done 👏 . I am sure they will win the gold . Unfortunately both US pairs were knocked off the podium

Quote:
American ski jumper Annika Belshaw was disqualified (DSQ) from the women's large hill individual event at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics because her skis were 1 centimeter too long. The Incident: After advancing to the final with a 98.5-meter jump, the 23-year-old Team USA member was disqualified following a post-jump equipment check, dashing her podium hopes. The Rule: In Olympic ski jumping, maximum ski length is determined by an athlete's body mass index (BMI). Athletes with lower BMIs must use shorter skis, with the maximum length capped at 145% of their height. Context: The DQ occurred on February 15, 2026, one day after a similar equipment violation disqualified Austrian ski jumper Daniel Tschofenig, whose boots were too big. Background: Belshaw was named the 2022 Ski Jumping Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Ski and Snowboard federation.
