I just sent this to my former wife who lives in the Boston area, just to make her feel better.

It was my last year of college, and I was working at a hardware store. My boss kept the store open, but his son, who was a volunteer firefighter, and I went out into the country on welfare checks. We found an old guy whose door had blown in. It was just a shack, maybe 3 rooms. His kitchen was full of snow. He was camped out in his living room. We gave him some food, shoveled out his kitchen as best we could and made sure his stove was working. A friend was doing calls on his snowmobile and rode up on a drift or something. He got clotheslined by a phone or power line.
A lot of bad stuff happened, but the community really came together.

^^^ Yes...everyone checked on their neighbors.
I had forgotten until I read your post...A guy I worked with had a snowmobile. (they were not so common in 78) He picked me up every morning during the blizzard on his sled. It was a 5 mile ride into work. And a ride back on it at the end of the day.

My car wouldn't begin to get me to work....they didn't even plow my road for a week.

We have power (generator kicked in about 6 am), but no internet. Or does she just zoom from her phone all day?
Wow! You got that much snow in Encino?

There are lots of good driving roads in the area. The road turns into a good dirt road about 4.5 miles past our place. There are always people in sports cars driving by, people on motorcycles and bicycles - especially on weekends. Some years ago Ford used the road for some vehicles they were testing out. There are also great hiking trails and peaks. There is one restaurant in the area where motorcycle and sports car groups make a destinaton lots of weekends.

Ha! Whether my former wife likes it or not makes no difference to me. I thiink she's jealous of it & I'm the one who divorced her. I'm a very mellow guy and like retaining our friendship.

we got a full 2 feet. wide 2 lane roads are 1.5. 93 and 95 were well plowed and black pavement for the most part, no snow. Most people took today off based on traffic in to work. Apple stores are all closed, I know that wanting to go in today.

No pics today, just tons of snow everywhere, nothing very interesting. Thank god it's going to warm up later this week.
