I went to open the moon roof while driving this am for the first time. Switch is similar to all Civics so I reached for it and felt two switches. One was definitely for the roof, the other one had a plastic cap over it to prevent accidentally using it. The button said SOS

I'm thinking that must be something similar to Onstar?

Thank you for your purchase of a new car! Your trade in will go on the market so cheap SOBs like me can drive a new to us low milage, well cared for automobile. After all, my old man's car ( a '16 Jetta) has almost 300,000 km on it and won't last forever.

I think the year was 83 and I bought a used 80 VW Jetta. It was a 2 door black with 5 speed manual.
I can't remember why I sold it, but I remember it was reliable and very fun to drive. It sat high and was very comfortable. I doubt they make it as a 2 door anymore.

Added gas for the first time...8.2 gal to fill it up with reg. Dash screen shows 46mpg.
Most of the miles were in Sport mode....If I used Eco mode, I think it would have been 50 mpg.

Been playing with the paddles on the steering wheel for the braking. I doubt I'll need new pads before 100K...the engine provides a lot of stopping power.
Most of the time, unless stopping, the paddles can replace the brake pedal.
Sport mode is fun.

Paddles? So you're using engine braking instead of the brakes? Is using the engine a way to engage regenerative braking? I thought with most cars that have regenerative braking, that it was activated by the brake pedal.

^^^ The paddles can use the engine to brake and charge the battery at the same time. It's a way of getting the main battery up to full charge. But it's also fun to use instead of the brake. (it will not work to come to a fast complete stop)

I think some EV's use regenerative braking just by lifting on the gas/go pedal....they call it 'one pedal driving'.

Interesting, yes, I think many/most use the lift off the gas and also are triggered by the brake pedal. I have heard that for many, the "lift off the gas" mode can be adjusted for how much generation you want (creates more deceleration at higher levels). It sounds like they baked that into your flappy paddles.

Yeah, 10.2 gal, I'd say that's a tiny tank, although, not surprising since it's a hybrid. Better fuel economy means you get a good distance on a small tank which helps offset the additional weight of the batteries by less weight in fuel.

The tank in my boxster is 16.9, and I get about 370-375miles per tank on the highway (running 80+mph and not hypermiling). I wish my boxster had a 23 gal tank like my old '88 911 had. My wife's car ('18 Outback w/3.6L flat 6) gets about 440 miles out of her 17.6gal tank.

Three weeks and 1200 miles after purchasing it....I received this from Honda yesterday.

First time to see the dealer since new. Two questions for them.

When to bring it in for the first oil change service?
answer: 6K miles and tire rotation at the same time....no charge. I have 2.5K miles showing and the mileage minder says 70% left. No problem.

The other reason was because I parked the Hybrid for 2-3 weeks while I used the Prelude for that time. I got back into the Hybrid yesterday and my cell lost the pairing to the car....no Sirius XM.

I spent an hour trying to connect and finally gave up and drove it in to the dealership.
Salesman said no trouble give me a minute. I sat in the drivers seat to watch and 15 minutes later, he finally made the connection with a cable instead of the BT. He gave me the cable and said to leave it plugged in for a day.

He was very busy and I didn't ask the reason for that....I hope it doesn't happen often.

I have an Accord hybrid as a rental this week and thought of this thread. I previously had a rental ICE Civic and came away very unimpressed with the drivetrain, I felt like power was adequate at best and the CVT was very prone to droning and lag. The hybrid powertrain is way better and I’m not typically a hybrid fan. The EV power fills in the ICE gaps nicely and it’s very smooth and seamless. If I needed a good MPG commuter (I don’t) it would be a contender. I’m definitely more impressed than expected.

My previous car to the Hybrid was the Civic SI. I liked the SI with it's tight suspension/handling, but the Hybrid is more fun and comfortable to me. The acceleration from a stop sign/light is better than the SI and it gets 48 mpg or more on every tankful. Stoplight racing is an easy win.

Honda really hit the mark with their Hybrids. I would definitely buy another one.

Have had the Hybrid almost 6 months and just today found a feature I didn't know I had.

Rain Sensing wipers. I was using the intermittent mode when I noticed an 'auto' setting on the stalk. First time I've had that feature...I like it. I was driving in and out of a few small t-storms and it only wiped when it was needed. I didn't have to mess with it at all.
