It's always tempting to sign up for one of those sites but there is an issue of what they might do with your DNA in the future, i.e. sell it or share it with someone you do not approve of or condone. My sister already did it years ago, so that covers looking up ancestors for me.

I think he used ancestry to research genealogic information (build a family tree using historic documentation), not perform DNA analysis. The DNA stuff is not in any way a requirement.

Well, ancestry is a thing. For instance I can trace my ancestors to the beginning of Rhode Island. We can and are blamed for colonizing the North American continent.

Going further into later years I don't see any ties to Southern states. I'm a damn Yankee. (4th Gen Calif.)

Yep just used it for research. I used other online sources/searches too.

So all that said.... Feel free to call me a redcoat or a kraut etc .... I think my skin is thick enough.
