@Steve Carlton, A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom. Sounds interesting. Just taking the 4 rules under consideration is a pretty big undertaking. I might be good for 2 out 4 with no. 3 coming along.
But thanks from me as well.

Steve that books sounds interesting. Love the bits you posted from it.
This thread has surely shown how a beloved member of the community who brings nothing but fun and happiness to the group can fairly discuss his feelings and then a few folks can take that and turn it into a federal case. I hope some can look back and see how things can go so quickly off the rails and lead us into DEI hell even with the best of intentions.

I don't expect this to be of any great interest to anyone here but.......there is a fantastic 2008 surf movie called "Bustin' Down the Door" about the emergence of pro surfing in the 70's. And in particular - following 2 Australian and 1 South African pro surfers, plus others from outside Hawaii, and the friction created when they arrived on the North Shore and rubbed the locals the wrong way with their brash behaviour. Things worked out OK in the end but not without a huge amount of drama. It's a historically accurate portrayal of how it all happened - very well done - and narrated by Edward Norton.

My dad was a defense lawyer on the Federal Wounded Knee trial back in the '70s, it was AIM, or the American Indian Movement. Names and norms change over time but I still know plenty American Indians today, none of them are pussies or thin skinned. God help the fool who actually offends them, though. They are a tough bunch. It's not about PC or DEI, (BS terms if there ever were), it's about not using actual slurs to refer to people. That's what the OP was about and I stand by my first post on the thread.

I'll tell you what nationality issue bugs me. Hyphenation. I get it that naturalized groups would refer to themselves as X-American with X being their birth nation. However, people who are born here and refer to themselves the same way bug me.
My ancestors are Sicilian, but I was born here. I am American with a family heritage from Sicily.

LOL! I'm German-Scots-English-American! (I suspect there's a few more in there, I'll have to double check)

Similar to my situation but reversed. I was born in Hawaii but grew up on the mainland and was one of very few dark skinned kids all through my white bread schools. Physical abuse was not a problem but kids can be cruel with words. I remember in high school this guy who had the hots for a girl who had the hots for me decided to make a racially derogatory remark to me in front of her and other kids. I said "that's right, my people ate your people". Everyone laughed and I won ha ha

I have done my family tree and it is on Ancestry.com
I am German- Italian- French- Irish- Scottish- British- Dutch and some other European nations. A pure bred mutt, and 100% American. Several great grandparents were in various land runs and they were homesteaders. Several fought in the Civil War, some on the south and some on the north. One was wounded in the arm at Pea Ridge in Arkansas and it made his arm useless. I went back 10 generations on my family name and it took me to a prince in Great Brittan. So I am one of a few million of his descendants. You don't need to refer to my royal title.

One of my friends in Minnesota did ancestry and found out that he is something like 2% Russian Jewish…he promptly put a Menorah in his window.
He’s a funny guy.

The farthest back I have traced my dad's side is to England in1585. This relative came here in 1633 on the ship "Recovery" sailing out of Weymouth England.
I have traced my mother's side back to 1180 in Osterdamme Germany . I have ship records when they came to the USA in 1834. I have not messed around with this stuff for years..... I should re subscribe to to Ancestry and see what more info may be available.
