Reminders that we *share* the top link of the food chain are always disturbing...

#2] Some crazy salmon fisherman starts a fist fight over ownership of the salmon.

#3] The fisherman throws a left straight and the bear counters with a 360deg roundhouse.

UconnTim97 02-03-2004 05:04 PM

I saw that video, it was a great commercial..lol

Overpaid Slacker 02-03-2004 05:44 PM

One of the best commercials - for canned salmon, I think. When the bear gets into fighting posture and shuffles his feet (right before the spinning back kick), I lose it every time.

EDIT: Bear Commercial

The pic that was deleted? Illustrates well why carrying a handgun for defense in bear country is only slightly better than nothing...(The eaten guy was able to place 4 .38 slugs in the bear...this REALLY pissed the bear off!) It also illustrates why the hunting guide caliber of choice in Alaska is the .338 Win. Mag. If one wanders in bear country? It is wise to carry a BIG club...

but useless if the heebies are followed by the dreaded jeebies.

i have had good luck with the 44 magnum pistola.

I don't think you've ever hunted what is called "dangerous game". Even with Black bear, which are little guys compared to Grizzly, and then Polar Bear in size...you want a magnum rifle...period. A .44 magnum pistol, even the new Smith .50 is a popgun by comparison. Don't get me wrong, handguns are fun. But they do have their limits when it comes to ft. lbs. of energy delivered. Heebies & Jeebies? Even then, your chances of a one shot kill are better with a magnum rifle, simply because of it's stopping power.

Keep me busy enough, and I'll be forced to take greater action.

Please guys: the purpose of OT is to chat about whatever, NOT to see how far you can push the limits! The last pic posted above was removed because it was posted to see how far the limits can be pushed.

If you want to keep this forum open, I suggest you all stop trying to see how far you can take it. That is not it's purpose.

Let's all grow up a little, please.
-Zoltan.
