I toured a grand home for sale the other day - just for kicks. Had to check out the garage.

The house was built late 70's/early 80's. At the front of the garage, about where the front bumper of your car would be, was a contraption I could not figure out. Any ideas?

What ever it was was behind/covered by rubber cove base:





This might not be related but it too was run under the base material



Clearly there was some kind of pulley and cable system - but for what?
