Ok, I understand how dirt-track vehicles can become airborne, or even cars on smooth tracks which have some substantial elevation change. But a dragstrip should be flat, straight, and level. How does this happen?

When they do burnouts to heat up the tires they can hop from the tires spinning. The tires will rotate and expand, then they get off the gas and the tires come back down. The quick up and down of the tires can make them hop off the ground.

Or they can get into the wheelie bars way too hard and it lifts the entire car off the ground.
