yep i agree with the not liking spiders, especialy the one pictured, i think i heard that the specific one was like 2nd most dangerous in the US, only second to the black widow (native to the US of course)

The recluse is dangerous, but I wouldn't classify it as the 2nd. I think that Austrailia owns 1-5 on any list like that, do a search for the Sydney Funnelweb. I believe the Funnelweb and the Blackwidow have been documented as actually killing people, but there are no confirmed reports of a fatality from a Recluse bite. The Recluse bite, although not deadly, is about the most damaging and painful bites you can receive.

I have a Nikon D70, with a 2.8 80-200mm Nikon D zoom, and a 2X converter.

80-200mm f2.8 -- I've heard good things about that lens. Coincidentally, I'm looking at Canon's comparable combination -- the 70-200 f2.8 and a 1.4 or 2x tele-extender. Are you pretty happy with that setup? Seems like adding in another converter doodad (I already have one for macro) every time I want to shoot really long would be a bit of a hassle.

great lens, however, I ended up with two, the first generation has the focus and zoom in one, and no tripod mount (had to buy a add on after market for that). seems Nikon saw the error and in Generation two, added one, but separated the focus and zoom to separate rings.
Since I like to shoot with my Nikon FM2 once in a while, where a separate focus and zoom would be nuts, I kept the first lens. I also own a N90s and now the D70, both AF, so the tripod mount is a big benfit. So I bought one of those as well. At LS I used the first gen since I knew I was not going to use d tripod, and expected fast moving subject. The converter is a bit of a pain, but it really helps bring the subject closer. A 200mm lens has an equvalency of about a 300mm when used on a digital camera, then add the 2X and you have a 600mm ~3.5-4 lens. As an aside, for anyone who is shooting fast moving subjects, there is a trick, keep both eyes open, sight the subject with the non-camera eye, them shift your focus to the camera eye and track it. Takes some time to get the hang of, but it is near impossible otherwise to get the bike in the frame. This also works with binoculars (where I first learned it actually) sight the target, then bring the binoculars to your eyes. Jim
